No file next issue (#17), of course. No news on whether #18 will have Conan or not.

Kuroda comes to Tokyo to replace/substitute for Matsumoto. No context or explanation is given for this event (though I guess that Matsumoto has been promoted since Kuroda called him 警視正, not 警視 like he used to be). Anyway, he comments that he believed Conan could solve the case, as he is "the brain behind Sleeping Kogoro" (yes, he said this out loud), and asked Conan to "look after him" from now on.

Are you referring to the events at the end of the movie The Raven Chaser?

Because that wasn't the real Matsumoto. 

 

There really isn't anything in any of the movies that connects to the canon through those lines

Kuroda is so recent that he hasn't been in any of the movies.

We've talked about this over and over here and elsewhere. It's not likely him. It's the same type of misdirection he's done previously. Gosho has never broken this pattern and he's not likely to start soon.

Kuroda called him Senior Superintendent (警視正), so he was probably promoted. He was only a Superintendent (警視) before.

If Kuroda is a good guy and replaced Matsumoto on orders of the Secret Police, I wonder if he was moved there to pursue Rum or another problem. I assume Kuroda has a mission and needs to be in that position in order to watch or influence someone/something.

shouldn't he be involved with the NPA if he really is good guy? rather than the secret police?

 

following your logic though, it could mean that someone from the MPD is a BO member(if not RUM)! with that position, Kuroda could easily ''control'' him/her as well!

This is probably the case imo.

And he probably knows about Conan from Rei's intellegence he has given to the secret police they both work for on this case.

RUM is probably unfortunatly someone else
