User 4869 100 Report post Posted May 26, 2015 top post edited to include 922. No break next week again. 922 summary from DCTP 26 May 15, 04:11 AM presumenothing: #923 summary: Shin's deduction about the sakura was actually his first. Cut to Shin reading "Adventure of the Dancing Men" under the desk, specifically the quote "if one simply knocks out all the central inferences and presents one’s audience with the starting-point and the conclusion, one may produce a startling, though possibly a meretricious, effect." 26 May 15, 04:15 AM presumenothing: #923 cont: When Yukiko scolds him about reading in a dim place and says he'll end up wearing glasses like Yuusaku, Shin says he definitely won't (haha). At the kindergarten, Shin goes looking for the library but finds the nap room (which apparently reminds him of a morgue he saw in a movie...), sees Ran and deduces that she's making a sakura because her badge had been taken. 26 May 15, 04:25 AM presumenothing: #923 cont: He wants to ask Ran if his deduction is correct, and wonders if he can surprise her by following Holmes' quote. Remembering the scene where Ran's badge was snatched by the boy, he realises that wasn't a plastic one either. One Holmes impersonation later, he thinks (nervously) that Ran should be startled like Watson was, but is surprised when everyone else is impressed yet Ran argues with him about not being a crybaby. 26 May 15, 04:27 AM presumenothing: #923 end: While being being scolded by Yukiko (and thinking that he mustn't let her find the badge hidden in his pocket), he notices the teacher looking at Ran... 26 May 15, 07:22 AM kid: File 923 trans.-side note- ★The Little Great Detective's intution says...this man★

Heliotropic 139 Report post Posted May 26, 2015 Can someone explain what is going on in these chapters? I looked at the first three, but I still can't quite figure it out from the pictures alone. Hope this helps! I think dreamskye7 got up 921-922 last night, but here are some translations from presumenothing regarding 923. Shin's deduction about the sakura was actually his first. Akazora 293 Report post Posted May 26, 2015 I couldn't help myself; this one panel in 921 was golden. I should probably make this face a reaction image. Speaking of poorly drawn art, did anyone else notice both Rans on the cover of 922 (the older one especially) looked extremely off model? Her legs are short and thin while her torso is wide and her head is huge. Sure sure, Gosho may still be recovering from his operation and all, but gosh it's still silly looking. Oh yeah, and the eyes and mouth bother me, but whatever.

Akazora 293 Report post Posted May 28, 2015 I feel like she was drawn from the head down and partway the artist realized she was too tall for the page and squashed everything to fit. (Source: Have done this lots) Fair enough, though you'd think Gosho would be pro enough (he has been doing this for so many years after all) to trace out how much space Ran would have taken before drawing her completely in. As a mangaka, space management is extremely important when it comes to setting the scene and the mood and ensuring everything you want to get across is done so efficiently and elegantly, especially for something like DC where even small details in the background can be important. Understandably, it's obviously harder to gauge proportions for page-large images as opposed to panel-large ones, and Conan is usually the one featured on chapter covers as opposed to Ran. And the pose she was making was kind of a weird one, I'll admit. And is Gosho responsible for all the drawing in the chapters (save for the backgrounds of course, which are done by assistants)? Or does he sometimes have his assistants draw the actual characters? Dear diary, TIL that Chekhov draws (lots).
Startold 3 Report post Posted May 28, 2015 And is Gosho responsible for all the drawing in the chapters (save for the backgrounds of course, which are done by assistants)? Or does he sometimes have his assistants draw the actual characters? The assistants draw everything in the background (the houses, the cars, the bystanders in the streets, etc.). For example, the kids who are taking a nap in file 921 weren't drawn by Aoyama, but by his assistants (Abe, Ohta, Kubota...).
ALAKTORN 170 Report post Posted May 28, 2015 I remember reading in an interview that Aoyama only draws the main characters.

User 4869 100 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 iShinichiKudo: Gosho Aoyama is going on a break with plans to resume in early summer. Starting with the 28th issue, Shonen Sunday will start publication on the Meitantei Conan Fukkoku Rensai Series (Detective Conan Reissue Serialization Series) for the second time. 1 Jun 15, 04:58 AM file spoiler iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: so, shin thinks the the teacher is suspicious, and he tells his parents that night. Yukiko teased him and said he is jealous that the teacher is favoring Ran. Yuusucker thinks so too but decides that since favoritism is not good, he will go investigate. 1 Jun 15, 04:59 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: the next day, when they take a walk to the park, Yuusucker follows the children. some suspicious person gives the camera to the teacher's wife. 1 Jun 15, 05:01 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: then the next day, it is raining and there is a black truck parked outside the preschool. The female teachers think it is suspicious and decides to call the police, but Ran and Shin's teacher runs outside and yells toward the truck: 1 Jun 15, 05:03 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: "Give up! That child is not coming back!" "No, I won't give up, never!" "If we start over again, it must succeed this time!" "since starting over again will not be bound by time!" 1 Jun 15, 05:04 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: when the teacher yells "don't do such thing", Yuusucker opens the truck door and comes out 1 Jun 15, 05:08 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: the owner of the car-the wife's younger brother, is arrested by the police. Taking the children to cross the street is to allow the brother in law to be able to recognize Ran. Allowing Ran to play the slide first is so that his wife can see Ran. Placing Ran closest to outside during nap time is so that it is easier to kidnap her since she's closer to the door. 1 Jun 15, 05:11 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: Ran wets her bed is because of the sleeping pill. Favoring Ran is so that the other kids will get jealous and bully her, then tells the Mouri parents that Ran is bad so that she gets criticized by her parents for no reason, thereby making her less trusting of her parents and more so of the teacher. 1 Jun 15, 05:20 AM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: The reason why the teacher and hus wife wants to kidnap a child is becuz their own daughter ran away. They wish to go back to the time when their daughter was the cutest, to redevelop the bond. Yuusucker remembers that at his autograph booth, the lady he met is the daughter who had ran away. The teacher's wife is reunited with her daughter, and convinced by some related ppl (idk what that means..), the teacher decides to turn hinself in 1 Jun 15, 12:11 PM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: so, every kid is crying except Ran who is holding back her tears. Then Shin tells her that it is still better to cry when one wants to and promises that he won't call Ran a crybaby anymore. And there's more dialogue...nothing particularly important 1 Jun 15, 12:23 PM iShinichiKudo: #924 c6251555: so right after Shin's telling Ran that she can cry, the flashback ends and returns to the present. Sonoko praises Shin for being able to express such a wise truth as a four year old. Sera agrees, "exactly!" And then goes the dialogue about love at first sight.

Akazora 293 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 User 4869, when is early summer in japan? june or july? Given spring anime end late June while summer anime start early July, I'm willing to bet that the manga industry uses similar terminology and that DC will start up again in early July. Shiaroku 1 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 Why isn't this chapter an episode yet?
DCUniverseAficionado 252 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 25 minutes ago, Shiaroku said: Why isn't this chapter an episode yet? Probably so they could release it alongside Movie 21, which is about romance (Heiji and Kazuha's will take center stage, of course, but there'll be Shinichi/Ran moments, too—thus, April 2017 will be replete with Heiji/Kazuha and Shinichi/Ran).
