Glass Heart 34 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 A little topic to discuss this kind of movie (unfortunately rarely good, if ever). Some of those movies with their trailers: Dragon Ball Evolution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo4t8PeqJ6E Dragon Ball The Magic Begins (unofficial adaptation), Ultimate Edition trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejqZaXTvyL4 City Hunter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5LMRAsb8YI Mr Mumble (unofficial adaptation of City Hunter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JSVk_cdQa8 Fist of the North Star (Hokuto No Ken): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boawe1SzCaQ Touch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR0xeizFUs8 I would have liked to add the movies "Cat's Eye 2000" and "Tokyo Babylon 1999" (which were released in 1997 and 1993 respectively, despite their titles), but unfortunately I couldn't find any trailer for those movies. If you have seen any of those movies, or others, what did you think of them ? Don't hesitate to introduce new movies and to discuss why you think that, unfortunately, most of them ended as failure despite the potential of the manga source. Southpaw 61 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 I didn't know Speed Racer was an adaptation from a manga. you said manga or anime... and to the best of my knowledge, the Speed Racer live-action movie was based on the anime

Glass Heart 34 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 A newcomer: Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers). The movie just came out in France and, even though it's not really a great film (but it's still good), it is the only space opera I've seen so far which gives me the same chills I feel with the very first Star Wars movies. The action sequences of this movie are just AWESOME ! It really feels like we're back at the time of the first Death Star space battle, but with the visual effects of today. The only thing which prevents him from being a really great movie is the fact that the story is too classic now (a space ship who travels in the universe to find a way to cure the earth from pollution), but it's still a good space opera to enjoy. I love Death Note Live Actions because L didn't die before Light die my favorite live action base on manga is HONEY AND CLOVER! You should try to watch that also! watch the Taiwanese version,Japanese version of Honey and Clover is...kinda boring for me BECK-watches because I want to see how Shiori Kutsuna would act (I watched that before DC LA 3) Gokusen! Dean Moriarty 1 Report post Posted November 1, 2011 I've seen Dragonball Evolution, Speed Racer and Death Note and I think they're all bad. The best manga adaptation I know (and the only good one I can think of) is Oldboy.

Southpaw 61 Report post Posted June 14, 2012 there was also a cute adaptation of "Kimi ni Todoke"... although I probably would have had trouble following along if I hadn't already seen the anime :/
Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 Tantei GAkuen Q live action movie ^^ Hell yeah! Epic Anime and movie. I liked the Death Note one too, but only because L actually looked like himself. The stories and stuff were lame. Detective Conan I only cared for the Showdown with the Black Organization one. I watched all the movies and tried the drama series, but they weren't so great. And Ouran I only saw a little, but it seems pretty similar to the anime. I want to see a live action Hetalia movie. -w-
Southpaw 61 Report post Posted June 27, 2012 just saw a 1-episode live action special of Cardfight: Vanguard that gave me feels I didn't know existed for that show and don't forget about the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin movie, starting Takeru Sato, who also played Ryoutarou on Kamen Rider Den-O
