To be honest, I think awards would only make people post unnecessary stuff just for the sake of winning an award. It would have to be organized really well for that to happen.

Wikipedia has done it...why can't we? mellow.gif

And did I think that was a good idea while I was over there? Nope.

Also, after a month, people are going to realize what the awards are, and then we're gonna have people covering their userpages with "AWARDS WON: 75", and it's gonna be what Wikipedia has become: people doing work for the sake of a fancy "barnstar" award.

I suppose so, but I haven't seen anybody do that, and I'm a little confident that that wouldn't happen...

I'd say the awards idea is a nice idea, but it should be limited. If someone is obviously doing extra useless stuff just to get awards and flaunt them, then it would be best to suspend them from getting any more awards. And if they get angry, etc. then their awards should be removed in general. Maybe that will stop people from overdoing it?

Alright, I looked over here and there are a lot of good ideas...

Oh, and as for my ideas and suggestions 04a97f13.gif...

How about like this. Make a group, like which group would we like to be in.

Group:

  • FBI
  • Black Organization
  • CIA
  • Metropolitan Police Department
  • Detective Agency
  • Etc.

Black Organization:

  • 0 -> 10 = Corpse/Tool/Guinea-pig/labs experiment/Shiho's Lab Testment/Gin's servant for brushing his hair, etc.
  • 11 -> 50 = New BO Agent/Scientist/Burglar
  • 51 -> 100 = BO Agent/Killer
  • 101 -> 500 = BO Middle Ranking Agent/Assassin/Thief
  • 501 -> 1000 = BO High Ranking Member/Skilled Assassin/Spy/Sniper/BO Expert, etc.
  • 1000 -> 1500 = Boss's Fav
  • 1500 -> 2000 = Vice Boss
  • 20000 -> more = Boss

Metropolitan Police Department:

  • 0 -> 10 = Suspect/Victim/Corpse/Criminal/Prisoner
  • 11 -> 20 = Newbie Police
  • 21 -> 50 = Police
  • 51 -> 100 = Police Officer/Police Detective
  • 101 -> 500 = Inspector
  • 501 -> 600 = Vice Intendant
  • 601 -> 1000 = Super Intendant

Haha, and so on... :P

[edit] Oh and... I recommend to omit post counts from these threads:

0 posts and more => Novice

10 posts and more => Detective boy

50 posts and more => Police Detective

75 posts and more => High-school detective

100 posts and more => Detective

200 posts and more => Famous Detective

500 posts and more => Sherlock Holmes

The group thing is a good idea, but how about this.

Everyone starts out as a Newbie. Once someone hits 15 posts, they will start getting unique titles.

By default, a user will go down the path of the Detective. However, this can easily be changed by going into settings.

I believe omitting game posts would be a bad idea. I looked on other forums with games and rank titles and most of them count posts in the game forum as "posts".

Great idea! th_117_.gif

But what if you wanted to switch to another group? Would you have to build your rep/rank again? You've betrayed that first group, after all.. th_102_.gif

For this, like Kan-chan said, there can be a record of the previous organization you were in.

However, posts in different organizations can be counted separately, but will be merged into Active Posts when one sees a profile.

My idea for titles are something like this:

Detective:

  • Detective Boy (15+ posts)
  • Rookie Detective (30+ posts)
  • Experienced Detective (50+ posts)
  • Private Detective (80+ posts)
  • Senior Detective (220+ posts)
  • Master Detective (500+ posts)
  • Holmes's Greatest Rival (1000+ posts)
  • The Modern Holmes (1500+ posts)

Police Department:

  • Rookie Police (15+ posts)
  • Patrol Officer (30+ posts)
  • Police Officer (50+ posts)
  • Police Detective (80+ posts)
  • Senior Police Detective (220+ posts)
  • Inspector (500+ posts)
  • Senior Inspector (1000+ posts)
  • Police Superintendent (1500+ posts)

Black Organization:

  • Test Subject (15+ posts)
  • BO Grunt (30+ posts)
  • BO Assassin (50+ posts)
  • BO Agent (80+ posts)
  • BO Senior Agent (220+ posts)
  • BO Executive (500+ posts)
  • BO Senior Executive (1000+ posts)
  • BO Second-in-Command (1500+ posts)

For example, if I posted 1341 posts while a Detective, 244 while in the Police Department, and 948 posts while in the BO, then Active Posts would show that I posted 2533 posts in total. (of course, I don't have the time to do all that...tongue.gif)

But, if I was a Detective, it would show that I posted 1341 times when you look on the forums. If I was in the Police Department, it would show 244. If I was in the BO, then it would show that I posted 948 times.

In that case, if I was currently active as a Detective, my member title would show up like so:

Holmes's Greatest Rival (current organization's title)

Ex-BO Executive

Discharged Senior Police Detective

I think there should be other ways to say "retired".

For example, if one is a Test Subject, BO Grunt, BO Assassin, BO Agent, or BO Senior Agent, it would show up like:

BO Grunt on the run, for example.

But if someone was a BO Executive, Senior Executive, or Second-in-Command, it would be simply:

Ex-BO Executive

If someone in the police was a Rookie Police, Patrol Officer, Police Officer, Police Detective, or Senior Police Detective, then if they "retired", it would say:

Discharged Police Detective.

If someone was an Inspector, Senior Inspector, or Superintendent, and they retired, it would literally say:

Retired Senior Inspector.

If someone as a Detective was a Detective Boy, Rookie Detective, Experienced Detective, or Private Detective, when someone retires, it would say:

Rookie Detective off duty.

If someone was a Senior Detective, it would say:

Resting Senior Detective

If someone was a Master Detective, it would say:

Ex-Master Detective.

If one was Holmes's Greatest Rival, it would say:

Holmes's Greatest Ex-Rival

If one was The Modern Holmes, it would say:

Retired Holmes

So? How does it sound?

Alright, to answer everyone's question here (and to get back to the original topic :P), here's why you can't change your member title:

You need to have at least 500 posts to be allowed to change your member title.

Let's just say it's a cool privilege reserved to dedicated and active forum members. :D (it would be much less special if anyone could just register and have funky member titles when they haven't yet contributed much to the forum).

Now, back on topic please? ^^;

Here is your answer, topgun.

I'd just like to mention that the way it works in the system is that ranks are only based on the number of posts. I can't assign specific ranks depending on the group a user is in. This means that we can't have 3 groups of rankings. We can have 3 groups but the ranking will be common to all 3. Basically, at 1000 posts, the member will have the same rank regardless of the group. Example: Detective.

Like I said in another post, I could create an add-on but that may end up being too much trouble down the road. It'd be best to go with something simpler for now. But I like the ideas you guys gave with the names and all that. I'll keep thinking about a good ranking scale too.

Then, why don't we just forget the BO and Police ranks for now and just do the Detective ranks?

Oww... that's hilarious 026.gif! Yes, we should do that 014.gif!

0 -> 10 = Corpse

Oh, and as for my ideas and suggestions 04a97f13.gif...

How about like this. Make a group, like which group would we like to be in.

Group:

  • FBI
  • Black Organization
  • CIA
  • Metropolitan Police Department
  • Detective Agency
  • Etc.

Because everyone of us have favorite groups, so, for instance, like if you joined the BO group, your title would be something referring to them 023.gif.

Black Organization:

  • 0 -> 10 = Corpse/Tool/Guinea-pig/labs experiment/Shiho's Lab Testment/Gin's servant for brushing his hair, etc.
  • 11 -> 50 = New BO Agent/Scientist/Burglar
  • 51 -> 100 = BO Agent/Killer
  • 101 -> 500 = BO Middle Ranking Agent/Assassin/Thief
  • 501 -> 1000 = BO High Ranking Member/Skilled Assassin/Spy/Sniper/BO Expert, etc.
  • 1000 -> 1500 = Boss's Fav
  • 1500 -> 2000 = Vice Boss
  • 20000 -> more = Boss

Metropolitan Police Department:

  • 0 -> 10 = Suspect/Victim/Corpse/Criminal/Prisoner
  • 11 -> 20 = Newbie Police
  • 21 -> 50 = Police
  • 51 -> 100 = Police Officer/Police Detective
  • 101 -> 500 = Inspector
  • 501 -> 600 = Vice Intendant
  • 601 -> 1000 = Super Intendant

Haha, and so on... :P

[edit] Oh and... I recommend to omit post counts from these threads:

OMG! I don't want to be either of them's wife/girlfriend/spouse 860e2a45.gif! Though I don't mind... Agasa, Megure, Kogoro, etc.

Haha, aren't they 07baa27a.gif? They are hilarious. I hope he/she keeps posting more 014.gif.

Oh, haha, sorry for going off-topic 3eb4e7b3.gif... MR M-O-D-E-R-A-T-O-R.

Go to settings 023.gif and umm... there'd be a box saying 'Member Title'.

ur ideas are just superb :shock::blink::unsure::rolleyes::-D8-)B)B)

as Maurice said, it would be difficult to do the ranking. I'm not sure how I'd go about doing it, but I found all the ideas to be great!

Wow...! I think this sounds good!! But I also think we should add in more people: Akako, Kaito, Aoko, Hakuba, Matsumoto, the Black Organization, Agasa, Akemi, Nakamori, and other people like that. MAYBE THE BOSS!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: Maybe the person who as the most posts (Which would be Skyron right now) could be labeled as the Boss of Anokata.

We could also have people be ranked in the Black Organization if they're in the top... 10? Could be anything like that for posts.

Why dont we keep our ranks as codenames? Same like that of the BO.

For Example:

Water (5 posts)

Korn (15+ posts)

Rum (30+ posts)

Brandy (50+ posts)

Moonshine (100+ posts)

Chianti (200+ posts)

Vodka (350+ posts)

Tequila (500+ posts)

Vermouth (750+ posts)

Whisky (1000+ posts)

Budweiser (1500+ posts)

Gin (2000+ posts)
