Case

Situation

Kogoro is given a case to solve the sender of a threat note. His teacher Heihachiro Shiota appears at his house and decides to go to the theater, too. Conan and Ran tag along. Kogoro's case turns into a murder, but he soon breaks his backbone before Conan can solve it.

The culprit is Hitomi Sasaki. She used a fishing line to drip poison into Shoko's glass, using a star suspended above the set as a guide to accurately drip the poison into her glass, which was pre-positioned in accordance with play guidelines. She has marks on her hands and the marks were made when she tried to force the fishing line off the star, she must have panicked. After the murder, Kogoro ordered everyone to stay put, and the fishing line used in the murder should be still in her pocket. Hitomi confesses that Yuuichi broke up with her to be with Shoko, but she already accepted his decision. However, Shoko broke up with Yuuichi and says that he is boring and airheaded, that she will give him back to Hitomi and laughed in a haughty manner. That is why Hitomi killed Shoko, because she couldn't forgive her for the fact that she wasn't serious about the relationship and that Shoko just wanted to take Yuuichi from her. After the case is over, Shiota decided to take over the detective agency until Kogoro fully recovered, but he has his ambition stopped by Mrs. Shiota, who come to "pick up" her husband. He is then taken away.

• In the Venus Arabic dub instead of Heihachiro embarrassing Megure about unsolved cases and saving him he instead talks about embarrassing stories about him eating food in secret while he was under him and getting caught.
• In the Venus Arabic dub any mentioning of Buddhism was removed.
• In the Venus Arabic dub Heihachiro says an old Arabic saying "وراء كل رجل عظيم إمرأة" (which translates to "Behind every great man is a woman") and then saying that he has his own version of it "وراء كل جريمة إمرأة" (which translates to "Behind every crime is a woman").
