The groom insists that the wedding to proceed, despite Megure's protests. As the bride walks down the aisle, the burglar suddenly appears. However, the groom announces that the burglar was actually a police officer, Chiba, posing as the burglar. Megure points out that Chiba has been by the river and the groom could not have figured out the burglar's true identity. Megure also reveals that the groom was the burglar's accomplice and in the end killed the burglar so he could marry the bride for money.
