Reita Kanamaru (金丸 嶺太 Kanamaru Reita) is a character in Detective Conan. He was a substitute manager at Café Poirot when its owner was on a brief leave.

Background
Some time before the current timeline, before Tohru Amuro started working at Café Poirot, the café master had a sudden injury and was replaced during his hospitalization by Kanamaru[1]. He comes to the café every once in a while and lives in Beika[N 1], but not other information is given regarding his personal status.
Appearance
Reita Kanamaru is a bit taller than Azusa, but shorter than Tohru Amuro. He has short curtained hair and has thick eyebrows. He wears a cap and is seen wearing a light jacket and a white t-shirt in his first appearance, and later a short-sleeved jacket with a black t-shirt under it[1]. He has a constant glare.

Kanamaru is a shy person, as he does not talk much, and seems to have unrequited feelings for Azusa[1].

Azusa Kidnapping Case (Manga: 1126-1128, Anime: TBA)
While Sonoko, Ran, Sera and Conan are hanging out at the café, he is sitting at the café counter sipping a cup of coffee. As he stares at Azusa and Amuro and has been sitting at the counter for a while, the protagonists think that he is suspicious, but unbeknownst to them, he was stalking them to make sure the two of them were not going out together. When Amuro wonders if there is any herb salt left, Kanamaru points to bottom cabinets, saying that there should be some under there. Conan and the others think that it is suspicious, as they had not seen him at the café before. Later, after Azusa is kidnapped, he is mentioned by the protagonists as a potential suspect, due to his glare and him wearing a mask and coughing, but is later cleared as a suspect. After the case is resolved and Azusa is back safe and sound, Kanamaru comes back to the café some days later without his mask and Azusa finally recognizes him. As they wonder what he was back then, he reveals his true motive, while blushing. It is unknown if he really had a cough or if the mask was used to hide himself when stalking the two workers.
Name origin
His name, like the other suspects in the case, comes from dishes at Café Poirot. In his case, it comes from "curry" (カレー karē)[2]. Additionally, he physically resembles the Café Poirot Master, who never appeared before in the manga, and only in the anime adaptation of files 438-440. They have the same black short and big nose, and the master's voice actor is Junichi Kanemaru (金丸 淳一), whose last name is the same kanji as Reita Kanamaru's. His age of 38 is also close to that of Kogoro Mouri, who is good friends with the master, leading fans to speculate that he is modeled after the anime-version master[3].[4].
