The killer was '''Akiko Yonehara''', inspired by the death of little Minako Mochizuki. Minako had found out that Sugiyama and another teacher (Shimoda, but she didn't tell his name to Yonehara) were involved in a fraud, and added that she was planning to confront the unnamed teacher. The girl was found hanged in the school gym few days later, and while everyone thought Minako had commited suicide under the effect of stress over the upcoming exams, Yonehara deduced that she had been killed by Sugiyama and his accomplice.

Knowing the identity of only one of Minako's two murderers, Yonehara organized the trip to gather the teachers that she knew Minako was a fan of. She first killed Sugiyama and left his body out there to freeze and trick people in regards to the time of his death; later, she attacked Sonoko to have an alibi, then immediately afterwards pretended to be a victim as well (using Sugiyama's body to such effects), and used her lipstick to spell out Minako's name in all of these cases. Shimoda's panicked reaction upon realizing the last detail revealed his involvment, so she tricked him into meeting up with her and killed him as well.

The murder weapon was her wig: she had cut her hair too short for her liking a while ago and hid it via a very long wig, and then decided to use it to strangle her victims (excluding Sonoko as seen in the picture) without leaving clues.

Hida's right thumb was poisoned when he went to turn off a burner that the killer had turned on. The switch on the burner had poison on it which rubbed off on his thumb. When he returned to count his bills he locked the doors and windows. The killer knew that Hida licked his finger to separate the bills so that was how Hida poisoned himself. The killer was '''Takako Fujii'''. When the police came, Takako used bleach to wipe the burner switch clean and Conan used iodine to prove that her handkerchief was soaked in bleach. Her boyfriend had borrowed money from Hida but couldn't pay it back so he hung himself. He took the loan so that Takako could have a heart operation. She worked for Hida in order to plan her revenge and kill him.

With the police roaming around the house, though, Conan begins to wonder if that's really all there is to it. His answer comes when suddenly, the son of the wealthy man supposedly kills his child hood friend. Later they celebrate the chairman's birthday, then Nobuko became very angry at Miyuki and goes out of the room. Later they receive a call from Mitsuaki, that he was attacked by a man wrapped with bandages. Later, they saw Hideomi holding a knife in his mouth, and found Mitsuaki stabbed through the spike fence. Take received a phone call from Mitsuaki that told him he was stabbed by someone. Everyone apart from the chairman and Miyuki rushed to the room below that they saw someone with knife in his mouth walking toward the balcony. By the time they were able to enter the room, Mitsuaki is found pierced by the fence atop the wall outside!
