Mouri wins a trip to Matsue from a lottery drawing, and while there they meet and join up with a Linked Verse group, which is a type of poetry. One of their members, a loan dealer, is killed, and Conan finds out that almost everyone has a motive to kill Conan (Shin'ichi) expresses sadness when he goes with Ran to a shrine dedicated to the gods of marriage where she is waiting for her fortune to work, Shin'ichi is briefly shown and says to himself- "That's why I did not want to bring her here" with a sad and sorrowful look on his face.

Conan hasn't figured out who the culprit is, so he gets Mouri to participate in their Linked Verse Contest so he can have more time to observe the suspects. Conan is able to find out the killer is Shiina-san, who killed the loan dealer because he scammed their group out of money.

An earthquake occurs in Tokyo, and the morning after, a man is found knocked unconscious at a Temple. It is later discovered that the man was trying to rob the Temple, and that he was knocked out by the bells that fell on top of him. He lives much closer to a Temple that not only has more money, but is more famous. Why would the robber go out of his way to rob a further away Temple for less money? And could the robber have different motives other than robbery? Conan, Genta, Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Detective Takagi try to solve the case!

The Detective Boys, Conan, Haibara, and Agasa visit the circus where a famous man is performing. Later, they meet up with a man who looks strikingly like the man from the circus. However, the man, named James Black, an American is later accidentally mistaken for the real person, and is kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers plan to kill Black after they get the money. However, upon finally realizing that Black is not the man they were after, they decide to kidnap him, anyway. The only clue left behind by Black was that he wrote "P&A" on the ground by where he was kidnapped. Can Conan solve the case? James Black's first appearance. Haibara says that James is giving her a weird feeling and James seems to be acting too calmly being kidnapped plus some other obvious hints James Black and Akai Shuichi are involved.

Conan figures out, with the help of Satou, Takagi, and Yumi, what "P&A" means. They realize that the kidnappers are in a police car, and are masquerading as police officers. Conan, Satou, Takagi, Yumi, and other members of the police force use this to their advantage, and completely corner the kidnappers, saving Black. The mysterious man named Akai Shuichi is shown driving James Black away from the scene later, as Black remarks on how Conan is no ordinary boy. James and Shuichi seem to be working together and James refers to Conan by the name "Cool Guy" Because the photo of Conan in the Vermouth room's says this name. James Black and Akai Shuichi are involved.

Kogorou, Ran, and Conan are all walking and are very hungry, so they stop by at a restaurant that Kogorou frequently visits. There is construction work going on next door, so the restaurant constantly shakes from the work, causing spills and broken plates. Later that night, the owner of the restaurant is found dead, and the cause is death is at first deemed an accident, as it is believed that a pot fell on his head. However, both Kogorou and Conan believe otherwise. Could this be more than just an accident?

Conan, Kogorou, and Ran are driving to a hot spring when the road gets closed due to snow, and so they accept an offer of staying the night at a nearby house, where they meet Yoshiro Daimon, a famous guitarist, Kazuki Daimon, his brother, Hatsuho Hojo, their housekeeper, Kayoko Daimon, Kazuki's wife, Genichiro Daimon, Daimon Industries President, and Tatsuko Daimon, his wife. The next day they discover the body of the company president dead.

Hattori Heiji invites Conan to watch his kendou match when a murder occurs. Heiji decides to solve the case before Conan gets there. When he arrives to check on the body, it disappears but is found again in the showers. Later, they explore a castle where they find a man fall off a roof. Later, a women on fire is found to have jumped off a bridge. Heiji and Conan realize the culprits are after the treasure in the castle, and solve the case. Later though, Heiji is cornered by them and is about to be shot until the Osaka police come and arrest them. Heizo punches his own son, to anger him into working harder on the case, and to have him try and confront the criminal. Kazuha and Ran discuss their feelings for their respective detective boyfriends.
264	-	Courtroom Confrontation: Kisaki vs. Kogorou (Part 1)	January 14, 2002			TV Original	Cellphone
Ran and Conan attended a court session where Eri Kisaki won another case. Expecting to go for a celebratory dinner together, Ran was disappointed when Kisaki had to go and attend a pro bono case to defend a man accused on a murder charge. Three years before, the victim had killed the suspects only son in a drunk driving, and had managed to get off lightly. The suspect was unhelpful and insisted he could not remember what happened the evening of the crime when he encountered the victim by chance at a hotel. Kisaki, with the help of Ran and Conan, tracked down the suspects estranged wife to the eatery she was running. They were surprised to see Kogorou Mouri turning up. Not only was the eatery one of Kogorou's watering hole, they learned that he was present there the night of the murder. Upon questioning, it appears that Kogorou could provide alibi for the accused, who also turned up the same evening at the eatery. Kogorou's evidence was based on the time shown on his mobile, when he was woken up from his drunken nap by the proprietress to receive an incoming call. Conan however, noticed that Kogorou's mobile was always kept in his coat which was always hung on a rack when he patronised the eatery. He also noticed that it was the proprietress who brought the ringing phone to him when he was in a drunken stupor. Shortly, the prosecutor, Kujou Reiko, had a meeting with Kogorou in the eatery and Conan suspect Kujou must have perceived the same thing he did. Kujou Reiko's first appearance. We learn that Eri is actually an excellent attorney. Reiko is determined to hand Eri her first loss. Kogorou and Eri still act harsh to each other, but the both of them do want each other back.
265	-	Courtroom Confrontation: Kisaki vs. Kogorou (Part 2)	January 21, 2002			TV Original	Matches
Kogorou's evidence for the suspects alibi was put into doubt by Reiko Kujou during the court hearing, turning him unwittingly from the defendant's witness to the prosecutor's witness. Anxious to make up to Kisaki, Kogorou conducted his own investigation, after obtaining the suspects residential address from Takagi. Conan went along and came across a matchbox in the suspects home, taken from the eatery. Reviewing the case notes, Kogorou realised what actually happened, but it took Conan's help to establish a convincing case during the court hearing to reveal the truth. Kisaki won the case and was proposing a dinner with Kogorou outside the courtroom, but the latter who just woke up from the effects of the tranquilizer dart, was distracted by a beautiful female passer-by. Kogorou is determined to help Eri on her case. Eri tries to ask Kogorou out on a dinner date, but of course, he acts like the same old Kogorou, which angers her again.

Sonoko invites Ran to come to a house in the hills where their chocolates are blessed with good fortune for love. Conan and Mouri attend too. Once there, they meet 2 men who are out hunting for a Japanese wolf, an old lady who owns the place her two female assistants and a male photographer. The females there start making chocolate as gifts for the one they love. Sonoko makes hers for Makoto and Ran leaves hers nameless. A snowstorm occurs and the photographer is found dead by Conan and the dog named Subaru. Sonoko and Ran are making chocolates! Sonoko's is for Makoto, but Ran's chocolate is still un-named. However, we all know who she will make it for.

The mystery continues and they develop the film on the camera to find droplets of blood on it. Apparently the murder takes place before the snowstorm but Conan feels like there's a trick to it. The characters are given more back story. While examining the chocolates, Conan figures out who the murder is. Mouri pops in finding Conan snooping around and is put to sleep. Conan tells everyone in the house Mouri is ready to place his deduction.
268	-	The Truth Behind Valentine's (The Resolution)	February 11, 2002			V33 - F3~6	Completely black photo
Mouri reveals who the murderer is. Just then they are betrayed by the two hunters who reveal they planned to murder that person the whole time to avoid blackmail from a crime they committed. Just then, a man in a ski mask, goggles, and a scarf comes in when one of the hunters opens the door. He knocks one of the hunters out and in his goggles a shot revealing Makoto. Ran knocks the other hunter out with a kick. Makoto demands Sonoko to tell her who is the other boy she is dating as he has not received her hand-made knitted sweater (She gave up due to its difficulty), her hand-made pottery glass (he mistook it to be a vase) and the chocolate (She refused to tell who it is for). He gets ready to fight until Sonoko tells him the chocolate was for him. Later on Ran cries because of Shin'ichi while Conan watches in the shadows. Ran wakes up to find her jacket blanketing her. She received a picture of herself sleeping from Detective Kid who is Conan with Shin'ichi's voice. Conan pretended Shin'ichi paid a visit and ate her chocolate due to hunger while she was asleep. Ran becomes angry due to Shin'ichi not waking her up to meet him. Makoto saves everyone! He gets incredibly embarrassed when he finally learns just who Sonoko has made the chocolate for. Ran is heartbroken, as it is Valentine's Day, and Shin'ichi is not there for her, again. However, Conan knows just what to do to help alleviate her tears.

A man seeks out for Mouri Kogorou to help in finding his passed wife's wind-up watch in his apartment, because Mouri refuses because he thinks it's a silly request, professor Agasa and the kids offer help. They find it, but a murder occurs nearby, and Conan is suspicious of the group's client. Takagi tells Conan that someone stole the records of Kogorou's solved cases. Conan fears that the Organization is suspicious of Kogorou's newfound powers of deduction.

Conan solves the case and rushes to the Mouri home, afraid that the Organization is watching the place. Ran sees Akai Shuichi, and believes that she may have seen him before!

Ran is thinking who the mysterious man she met is. Later Jodie asks Ran what "X" means and she does not know. Afterwards, Ran, Sonoko, Jodie, and Conan are at the mall when a murder occurs. The dying message is ?×??. Everyone in the mall is a suspect, so the only way to find the criminal is to use a list of names. Ran is baffled, who is the mysterious man that she has seen, before? Ran is completely clueless, as is Shin'ichi, about the meaning of "X".

Conan solves the case after figuring out the code was cut off and they represent a name of a person. Afterwards Ran learns what "X" but tells Conan it means "No Good". Later, a black organization types an email to Gin. Ran gets very embarrassed when she discovers the meaning of "X". Vermouth sends an e-mail to Gin. She feels that not far to meet with Sherry

The Detective Boys visit a park, where an old lady who feeds the birds with Ayumi, often shows up. However, the discover that she has disappeared. Can the Detective Boys find her kidnappers, and what reason could the kidnappers have for wanting to kidnap her?
274	-	The Truth of the Haunted House (Part 1)	April 15, 2002			V35 - F5~7	TV screen
Ran catches a cold and visits the doctor. When there one of the doctors patients mentions that his apartment is haunted by a girl who was burned to death four years ago. Conan and Mouri decide to investigate. Once there they meet three other people who are living in that apartment. Ran who is fearful of ghost tells her father they should leave at 7 pm. When the clock strikes 10:20 pm, Ran wakes up to find a ghost in the television telling her to leave. Mouri and Conan wake up due to her screaming. Mouri tells Ran it was probably a dream and goes to the toilet. After he's done the water turns red. Mouri backs away from the toilet and screams when he sees a ghostly image.
275	-	The Truth of the Haunted House (Part 2)	April 22, 2002			V35 - F5~7	Beaker
The three people excluding the old man are given more back story. One man does not believe in the ghost, one man is a horror movie cameraman, and the other man just lives there. They are told that two suspects of the burning four years ago ran from the scene and one of them was identified. Conan finds out how the ghost trick was done. He puts Mouri to sleep and tells them the reason those tricks were done. He reveals that the culprit is one of the two suspects and that he is hiding the other suspect too.

Takagi loses his notebook after breaking up a fight between a manager and his singer. He searches for his book with the help of the Detective Boys. They then discover that the singer plans to murder his manager. The detective boys manage to bring Takagi to his house and save him before he was killed. With the manager was Takagi's notebook.

Conan is still very suspicious of Jodie Saintemillion. So, he calls in Hattori Heiji to assist in going to her home, and questioning her. Upon their arrival there, Jodie and the two agree to a dinner date. However, upon entering her apartment, a murder occurs. A man has fallen to his death from the window to his apartment. Is it suicide, or murder? Heiji and Shin'ichi begin to suspect that Chris Vinyard was the accomplice of Pisco and also a member of the organization...then they begin to suspect that Jodie is Chris Vinyard and decide to investigate...
278	-	English Teacher vs. Great Western Detective (Part 2)	May 20, 2002			V34 - F2~4	Electro-magnetic wave
After an investigation from Inspector Megure, Conan and Heiji figure out what exactly happened, and have Jodie assist them in solving the crime. This involves her getting drunk. Heiji, under the guise of showing Inspector Megure how the killer lured the victim into his room, sends Jodie a text message saying "Who Are You?" Jodie merely smiles in response. At the end of the episode Shin'ichi and Heiji come to the conclusion that Jodie is very suspicious and they should not let down their guard. Kazuha angrily calls Heiji, because he was supposed to take her out on a dinner date!

Conan, the Detective Boys, Haibara, and Agasa, are all watching a soccer game involving the Tokyo Spirits and Noir. The game is a thrilling sudden death game with an exciting finish! However, somewhere in the stadium, lurks a man holding a rare knife... While everyone walks out of the stadium, they see on a store television, a game involving the Osaka team, Haibara takes special interest in a certain player on the team, Higo, because his situation in soccer closely mirrors, to her, her situation with the Black Organization, though she never admits this. He is considered a "traitor" by fans, for going from one team to another, and even fans of his own team boo him when he makes errors. While Haibara and the Detective Boys are focused on the game, Conan asks Agasa about if he has new information on Sharon Vineyard, and learns that a famous Japanese actress attended the funeral, but no one remembers who it was. While they watch the game on the TV, they spot a man known as a "Hooligan," a man who takes pride on starting trouble and riots in soccer matches. While everyone (Including is on a train packed with Noir and Tokyo supporters, the hooligan is found murdered, stabbed inside of the train. Inspector Megure and Detective Takagi arrive on the scene. Conan is able to narrow the suspects down to three people, but can he solve the case? And where did Haibara go? The last scene of the episode shows her walking away from everyone... First appearances of Higo Ryuusuke. Takagi starts to question Conan's intelligence by asking him directly "How are you deducing like that?".

Conan spots Haibara watching the big screen TV, eyeing Higo and how he is doing. Conan tells Haibara Higo's real intentions for switching teams. Thanks to this, Conan has an idea and now can solve the case! Conan, with the help of Agasa, is able to solve the case and confront the criminal, whom committed the murder as an act of revenge against the heartless hooligan. While the man is being taken away, the Detective Boys notice that Haibara is on the other side of the train station, near a different train. Conan believes that she may be running away, due to the many odd comments she has made throughout the day, about being a traitor! Conan races to find Haibara, only to believe that it is too late... until Haibara walks up to him and explains that she was trying to find Mitsuhiko's radio, that he had accidentally dropped during the hysteria that occurred when the man was murdered. Haibara feels an emotional connection with the soccer player Higo. Haibara ask Conan "You'll protect me, right?". Conan answered "Yeah..." This might state something about Haibara's feelings for Conan.

Conan, Kogorou, and Ran enter a mansion to meet up with the President of a large company. Various friends, co-workers, and rival business presidents show up for the dinner, where the tensions are very high. After staying for the night, a worker discovers the President's body, in a water stone garden, that fills and re-fills itself automatically as the day goes by. However, by the dead body, there are no footprints. Could this be an impossible crime?

Inspector Yokomizo Sango arrives on the scene, and begins an investigation. Kogorou believes he has solved the case, and even tries to show everyone how the killer could have done the murder. After this fails, Conan stuns Kogorou with his watch, and tells everyone the real trick the killer used to commit the crime.
284	-	Chinatown Deja Vu in the Rain (Part 1)	July 1, 2002			V34 - F8~10	Circular table
Kogorou, Ran, and Conan are all heading into Chinatown to have a nice dinner. In the car, Ran is studying extensively for an exam, and hasn't slept very well. Her mind keeps thinking back to a blurry memory of her and Shin'ichi, and she keeps thinking about that mysterious man, Akai Shuichi, and about how she believes she has seen him before. Conan is very worried for her health. While at the restaurant, they share a dinner table with another group of guests, because Kogorou didn't read the fine print on a coupon. One of the guests on the table dies. Inspector Juugo Yokomizo arrives on the scene. Kogorou mistakes him for his older brother, Sango, which angers Juugo, who is not a fan of Kogorou. Because Ran sat near the victim, she is considered a suspect! Conan wants to figure out who is the murderer, not just because Ran is a suspect, but also because she keeps looking more and more ill. Could something bad happen to Ran? Yokomizo Juugo's first appearance. Ran is feeling ill! Conan gets incredibly worried about her. Inspector Yokomizo establishes that he is very different from his brother, and is not very fond of him. Ran's past, including her thoughts on where exactly she has seen Akai Shuichi, keep bugging her.
285	-	Chinatown Deja Vu in the Rain (Part 2)	July 8, 2002			V34 - F8~10	Wet towel
After an investigation, which sometimes is tense, Conan finally figures out how the killer could have killed the victim, via the victim's reflexes and distaste for certain food. As the investigation goes by, Ran looks more and more ill. After Conan stuns Kogorou and solves the case, Ran passes out on the floor. She finally remembers, thanks to the rain, just who Akai Shuichi is, and what the connection is with Shin'ichi. It was a case, over a year ago... Inspector Yokomizo is a much different Inspector from his brother, not believing in Kogorou at all. Conan is incredibly concerned about Ran. Is she OK? Ran's past and her memories finally return to her, after she has passed out...
