Case

Situation

The Detective Boys arrive at the Ice Room boarding house with Professor Agasa. While the Detective Boys start a snowball fight, Genta goes inside the boarding house to clean his face. Conan looks for Genta after a while. Conan accidentally overhears an argument between Juri Himuro and Aya Himuro. Aya protests against Juri having Masahiko Fujita as a boyfriend. Masahiko and Juri run off. Genta then exits the kitchen, which is next to Conan. Conan goes into the kitchen to see where Genta had gone, but he gets promptly kicked out by Ryoko Himuro. In the meantime, Haibara had been making minature snow animals sculptures. Aya then comes from the mountain path.

During dinner, Ayumi is put off by the scent of garlic. This causes Conan to wonder because there isn't garlic in the food. After dinner, Aya reminds Juri to take her medication, but it disappeared. Masahiko goes out in the snowstorm to get medicine for her. A phone call comes from the hospital saying that her boyfriend hadn't arrived. They all begin to wonder because he should have arrived a long time ago. Juri calls his mobile but he doesn't answer. Excluding Juri, they all go out looking for him. Conan discovers his corpse off the cliff of perilous a narrow path.

The police are not able to come but Conan preserves the scene. Professor Agasa thinks it's an accident but Conan has his doubts. Conan finds some fragments of something shiny in the snow. He continues to wonder why Masahiko chose the dangerous path. The sisters reply because it's faster. Conan asks if she was into town this afternoon because they saw her coming from there. When back in the lodge, Juri breaks down and blames herself. That night, Conan sitting thinking on the steps when he hears a door squeak open. He discovers 'Monaka ice' in the store room. That night Juri suffers a coughing bout. Conan asks her if her sisters would do anything for her. The detective boys bring in the animal ice sculptures that Haibara had made.

Although there are no signs of a trap and no time to dispose of the trap. Because the trap is still there but we can't see it. It's made of snow and ice. first the culprit made the path narrower by shoveling snow. then placed a sheet of ice under the snow. As the ice melts, it becomes slippery. The plastic wrapping from Monaka Ice were found in the ice. because Genta took it from the freezer of the boarding house during 'he washed his face'. That and because Ayumi smelt Garlic he deduced this. The Genta crumbs fell into the ice sheet while it was setting. Therefore because there would be no reason why the crumbs were there must be from the residents of the house. At first they suspect Aya. But because she wasn't carrying shovel and cooler box to keep the ice cool. Furthermore, she called out to the kids. A culprit wouldn't do it. Ryoko admits she did it. She did this because the sisters consider Juri as a daughter. Ryoko was always cooking so she had access to the freezer. But unfortunately the culprit isn't Ryoko. She was protecting the true culprit, Juri Himuro. Juri then screams stop and admits that she committed the crime and hid her own medication. Her motive was because he was breaking up with her and has another new girlfriend. Only if he did one final thing for her she'd let him go.

• Himuro sisters are clearly modeled after the ice sculpture at the beginning of The Unsolvable Ice Trap, then they could be acquaintances of the ice engraver, Tetsuya Shiota.
