There never was a murder or a missing person. The one who put the dolls in the room was Kobayashi, who actually was practising for future parental meetings since she was a very shy person and didn't want to commit blunders. The vice-principal merely didn't come to school because he lost his tupée and was too embarrassed to let people know that; the janitor had actually found it and kept it aside, so once he gave it back the vice-principal returned to work.
