James Black is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. A high ranking agent in the FBI, Black first meets Conan, the Detective Boys, and Dr. Agasa because they confuse him for a famous magician, while Black, who is an American, was visiting Japan. In fact, he is kidnapped because of this. It is thanks to Conan and the Tokyo police that Black is safely rescued from a dangerous hostage situation. Conan doesn't meet up with him again until he and Jodie Starling travel in Black's car, and Jodie reminds Conan that he had met him before.
