Lost in the wild, miles from civilization with two suspicious looking men sneaking around, how's the gang going to get themselves out of this mess? After knocking out the two suspicious jewel thieves with the supposed treasure, a duffel bag full of jewels, Conan and the rest of the group open up the treasure chest. The real treasure is revealed to be a letter from the past, written by Yusaku Kudo in 1978. In the letter, it explains how the experiences they gained during and the memories they have of the journey will become the priceless treasure that they will never forget in their lifetimes.

Trivia

• Insert song: Happy End, by Ziggy (Another Song From Episode Hijacked Department Store Case).
• This is the first episode where Professor Agasa takes the Detective Boys camping.
• This episode mentions that 10 years ago, one of Yusaku's manuscripts was stolen, and the crimes in The North Star No.3 Express Leaving Ueno Case seem to be based on it, although the stolen manuscript was shown at the end of the episode, and addressed to "My Son, Shinichi."
• The real treasure was a life lesson for the children.
• This is the first time that Conan is shown using his watch to determine compass directions of South, North, East, and West, which he explains to the Detective Boys.
