Case

Situation

A routine afternoon at the library turns into the hunt for a corpse after an attendant turns up missing. When Conan and the Detective Boys try to solve the mystery by staying after-hours, they find themselves trapped, in the dark, and not alone. Will they catch the killer before he catches them?

Shuji Tsugawa is the culprit and he hid the corpse one top of the elevator. Tamada discovered the illegal drugs hidden inside the fake books which meant Tsugawa was a drug dealer and that's why Tsugawa killed him to keep him quiet. After killing him Tsugawa threw his body down the elevator shaft causing him to land on top of the elevator, this would come back to bite him as Conan noticed that the elevator overweight alarm went off despite the elevator having enough room this was due to the corpse that was on top of the elevator.

The books with the drugs had no spine, so Tsugawa hid the books in the kids section creating three rows of books instead of two. As a result the books looked uneven and unaligned due to the one book pushing the other book out to the other side, because of the third additional row of books.

After finishing the case, Conan walked back with the Detective Boys, thinking that should be his final case in Conan's form, as he will be drinking Paikaru afterward and turning back to Shinichi Kudo permanently. However, a second round of Paikaru didn't work for him, and the next day Conan appeared to be hung over in front of the Detective Boys.

Trivia

• The inspector that appears during Megure's questioning of Tsugawa has Takagi's earlier character design but he wasn't voiced by Wataru Takagi. He was voiced by Isshin Chiba who later would go on to inspire the creation of and provide the voice for Kazunobu Chiba.
