- Taro Hayashida uses research balloons, balloons that are used for scientific purposes. Usually unmanned, theses balloons are filled with gases lighter than air so they can go high in the sky. Most of them are used in meteorology, atmospheric research, astronomy, and military research and only a few balloons like these are launched per year by particulars.
