Amanda Hughes (アマンダ・ヒューズ Amanda Hyūzu?) is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.

Background

Amanda Hughes was killed by APTX 4869 seventeen years prior to the current timeline, when she was 81-year-old. She apparently had contacts to two American intelligence agencies, the FBI and CIA. She was so powerful in the US that Black Organization tried to threaten her. It's said that she was a contender to be the next president of the United States. She had a close bodyguard called Rachel Asaka, who were as close as mother and daughter. She was also a big fan of Kohji Haneda.

Plot overview

Kohji Haneda's Death Case (Manga: 948-950, Anime: 861-862)

It's said that she was an elderly wealthy American who was killed seventeen years prior to the current timeline, she stayed in the same hotel as Kohji, and it was proved that she went to his room. The cause of her death could not be determined. Haibara has yet to confirm whether she saw her name on the APTX victim list or not.
