Case 2
Situation
The next day, Heiji takes Conan with him to participate in a reality television deduction competition between high school detectives Heiji Hattori, Natsuki Koshimizu, Junya Tokitsu, and Saguru Hakuba. While there, they are being tested, but Tokitsu declares that he has solved the mystery and decides to test his theory out. He says that it would take around 30 minutes. While the rest wait, they have dinner. During that they discuss the purpose of the lavendel in the house, and Natuski mentions that it reminds her of a murder mystery that took place around a year ago.

Trivia
- Although Hattori appeared to have met Hakuba in the movie The Private Eyes' Requiem, it was a movie, and therefore, non-canon. Moreover, Hakuba didn't appear at all, since Kaito Kid disguised as him. Thus, this is the first canon meeting between Heiji and Saguru.
- Hattori claimed to have solved more than 1,000 cases, which is true, even though he had to include searching for cats as a child.
- Hakuba claimed that he solved about 500 cases, however that is only the cases he solved in Japan, and does not include the cases that he solved while studying abroad in England.
- Since Hattori has a problem with Hakuba being the high school dectective of the east, Saguru decided to adopt the role of "Guest from Abroad," and let Conan be the East's representative.
