Biography
In the 1980s, Shigeru Morikawa was mainly active as an anime director[2], and used the pseudonym Yumekichi Minatoya (湊屋 夢吉). After turning freelance, he joined the animation studio Sanzigen (サンジゲン)[2]; thereafter, he started to participate in the production of the animation works done by the firm.
When producing his works, he always emphasised to ensure that the "plot", "actors", and "music" all work together well[2]. Furthermore, he directed Argonavis: Shooting Star Obbligato (劇場版アルゴナビス 流星のオブリガート) in 2021, a compilation recap movie, and he happened to have watched the main anime of that series, and thought that this was what he wanted to do[2].
