Masayuki Miyaji (宮地 昌幸 Miyaji Masayuki?) is a Japanese technical director and novelist[2][1]. He takes part in the production of Detective Conan anime.

Biography

Owing to Masayuki Miyaji's passion upon animation, after dropping out from the Film Department of Nihon University College of Art (日本大学藝術学部映画学科), he started to study at a certain workshop established by Studio Ghibli (スタジオジブリ)[2]. In 1999, Miyaji formally entered Studio Ghibli[1], and worked with fellow animator Masashi Okumura (奥村 正志) at that time. During this period of time, he was recognised by the renowned anime director Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿)[3], thus he became the assistant director of the film Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し) at 25 years old. In 2001, after gaining some experience, he decided to work by himself[1][2] - in 2008, he directed the web animation Xam'd: Lost Memories (亡念のザムド) for the first time[4][3].

In 2012, he directed theatre-like TV movie named Memoirs of a Hunter Girl (伏 鉄砲娘の捕物帳) for the first time[5]. In 2014, he directed a real-life talk show called Plusto (WOWOWぷらすと) for the first time. In 2014, he published his first novel titled Farewell Ariadne (さよならアリアドネ)[2].

Miyaji was only involved in the production of the case Episodes 350~351: The Forgotten Cell Phone in the Detective Conan anime.
