Yoshimichi Kameda (亀田 祥倫 Kameda Yoshimichi?) is a Japanese animator and character designer from Hiroshima Prefecture[1]. He is the character designer and chief animation director of Shin Samurai-den Yaiba anime.

Biography

Yoshimichi Kameda graduated from the fine art department of Onomichi City University (尾道市立大学)[2]; after his graduation, he moved to Tokyo, he then debuted as a key animator in 2004 via the anime Bleach (ブリーチ BLEACH), and was active mainly in drawing action scenes[3]. In 2006, he joined Anime International Company (アニメインターナショナルカンパニー). After he had done the key animation work of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (鋼の錬金術師 FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST) in 2009[Note 2], he quit Anime International Company and became freelance (yet he is presently affiliated with WIT Studio[4]).

After that, Kameda joined the production of the anime Parol Mirai Island (パロルのみらい島): in which he was involved in the series' early-stage planning, later he served as character design and animation director for that anime[5]. Thereafter he began to serve as character designer for certain animation series - notably, in 2016, he became the character design for Mob Psycho 100 (モブサイコ100). In 2023, he received the "Okawa-Fukutani Award" at the Niigata International Animation Film Festival for his directed work Inu-Oh (犬王), where he was the chief animation director[6].

Kameda joined the production of Detective Conan in 2022, for which he first worked on the production of the openings and endings of the spin-off stories of the series: Zero's Tea Time and The Culprit Hanzawa. Whereupon he also did key animation in Movie 25: The Bride of Halloween. In 2024, he was appointed as the character designer and chief animation director for Shin Samurai-den Yaiba anime.
