Situation

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are in a restaurant, when they overheard Tomoya Kusano talking about his kindness to his friend Hajime Yamanashi. Conan notice an angry suspicious man in hoodie. Later, Tomoya Kusano is found dead in the toilet.

The culprit is Hajime Yamanashi. He attacked Tomoya while he was using the hand dryer in the bathroom, then used a roll of toilet paper to keep the hand dryer running. The evidence is a button from his jacket that was found in the toilet drain. His motive was that Tomoya indirectly caused his sister Akiho’s death after she unfortunately witnessed a murder and was chased by the murderer.

She was able to run to a police box, but there was no one there since the police officer was with Tomoya, who called them only because he saw a suspicious man outside his house. In the end, Akiho was also murdered, and Hajime, after hearing Tomoya's story and learning that he was responsible, decided to get revenge, so he killed Tomoya. It is revealed that Shin Kotani also wanted to murder Tomoya with the same method that Hajime used because he had caused him to be fired from his job, but he refused to do it and decided to stay calm in the restaurant.

In the end, while waiting for the elevator, Kogoro wants to help an old woman, but the old woman thinks that Kogoro wants to rob her, so she quickly get into the elevator, not allowing Kogoro, Ran, and Conan in.

• The first director responsible for the Detective Conan anime and movies, Kenji Kodama, under the pseudonym Chonin Kamikawa, did the storyboard for this episode.
• The police cars from Mystery of the Burning Tent and The Kendo Tournament of Love and Mystery reappeared.
