After attaining adequate experience with respect to animation production, she made her very first debut in the animation direction wise, in 2012; she served as episode director for the anime Dusk Maiden of Amnesia (黄昏乙女×アムネジア). Thereupon, she began to hold a position in several other animation works (including TV and movies). Notably, she won the third place of "NewType" Annual Animation Director Award[Note 1] in 2019 by virtue of her eminent movie direction for Uta no Prince-sama (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪).

Nagaoka joined the production of Detective Conan in 2013. She first served as technical director for Movie 17 Private Eye in the Distant Sea, Subsequently, she contributed in the movies further. Starting Movie 21 The Crimson Love Letter, she started to become co-director.
