In Beika, Conan explains how Shiori was able to make Torakage carry the message: he takes out an A4 sheet from his backpack and starts folding it in half horizontally. After that, he folds the other sides and makes it into a rocket-shaped paper airplane. He later creates some creases in the corners and folds them again, thus transforming the rocket into a "bird". As Genta explains that it is just a regular paper airplane, Conan throws it in the air and it starts flapping its "wings", just like a bird, prompting Torakage to chase after it. This was how young Shiori was able to get Torakage to take her letter, but the cat ended up not delivering it to her grandmother. Thus, considering the travel distance of the paper airplane, Shiori is most likely held captive inside her own house. The new housekeeper locked her up and would make sure she would not make any noise and thus easily be able to maintain communication with her accomplice. The Detective Boys then ask where she is held inside the house. Conan explains that her letter likely did not mean "Shiory, hurry help" (シオリはやくたすけて Shiori, hayaku tasukete ) from the torn part "Shiori hur... help" (シオリはやたすけて Shiori ha ya tasukete ), but based on the fact she was able to throw the paper bird, "Shiori is in the attic, help" (シオリはやねうらたすけて Shiori wa yaneura tasukete ). Having finally found where she is kept, Mitsuhiko decides they should call the police detectives in front of the Ishigami residence to rescue her, but Conan says it is better to yet for Sato's confirmation that the kidnapper she was chasing has been neutralized, as if the kidnappers found out the police were after them, they might barricade themselves inside the attic and hold her hostage.
As Conan's call gets through, Sato is still in front of the Red Brick Warehouse. After explaining to her where Shiori is, Conan asks her to be on standby as there might be other accomplices, but she says it is unlikely, as the kidnapper left his phone in the jacket he dropped, and no one called or texted the phone yet.
