− | Hey there, glad to see you got the login issue fixed! ^^ Welcome to the DCW Wiki! :D I am so happy to see another contributor to this Wiki, as more help is definitely needed. Also, thank you very much for adding titlecards that do not have the subs underneath them. I always try to make sure they don't have the subtitle listed underneath, but unfortunately some subbers leave them there for the whole duration of the title. But either way, I am happy to see you helping in fixing that, as well as doing article work! Glad to see you around, and happy editing! − | :Hooray! Out of curiosity I noticed the transliteration for "Feel Your Heart" was posted and I found the missing Kanji lyrics on Anime Lyrics dot com. I have tried to cite the author and the webpage, but it seems like my usual method of referencing on the normal Wikipedia isn't working here. ^^;; How do I properly cite the webpage? --[[User:skyechan|skyechan]]
| + | Hey Skye ! Sorry for the late reply. Concerning the one-shot characters, I was told by Mario-WL that it was pretty much alright, as they had those on the German wiki. As for the link, I thought it'd be useful when I put it on but later realized I shouldn't put those illegal links on, but forgot about it cuz I was lazy. Anyways, thanks for telling and I love her blog ! − | ::Yeah, Wikipedia uses a pretty advanced and weird way to do citations now, since there are so many citation templates. We here still use the old style, as seen in the section called [[Detective Conan|Introduction]]. And don't forget to add a section titled "References" and have the </references> tag! − | == Cast ==
| |
− | | |
− | Having watched the [[Valentine Murder Case]] episode personally, I know for a fact that Agasa, the Detective Boys, and Kogoro all appeared in the episode. In fact, Conan stuns Kogoro to solve the case. Thus, I added all of those characters back into the cast section. ^^ [[User:CarpetCrawler|<span style="color:#660066">'''''Carpet'''''</span><span style="color:#000033">'''''Crawler'''''</span>]][[User_talk:CarpetCrawler|<span style="color:#990033">'''''message me'''''</span>]] 04:21, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

− | :Sounds fine to me. As I said, I was just going based off the Koware.net tags. --[[User:skyechan|skyechan]]
| |
− | ::I think Koware.net only lists the notable characters. And based off that site, characters like [[Officer Tome]] would probably never be listed. I have always considered that section as the place where every character that appeared in the episode goes. Either way, I am LOVING all of the amazing edits you're doing to the wiki. Great stuff. ^^ Keep up the excellent work! − | Thank you SO much for helping me out by adding missing Conan's hints. − | == Anime Season Tables ==
| |
− | | |
− | Actually the titles column doesn't have a fixed width currently. It will auto-resize depending on the size of its content and/or the size of the other columns. What I did for now was change the manga source column to use abbreviations to help make the table more enjoyable to read. If you still think a fixed set width would be appropriate for the titles columns, you are free to experiment with it! Simply add:
| |
− | style="width:<put some width here>px;"|
| |
− | right before "Episode title" on the [[Template:SeasonItem|BeginTable_Season]] template. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions! I'll be more than happy to help out. :) Keep up the great edits! --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 23:29, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

− | == Aoyama's Many Deaths and Conan Side Images ==
| |
− | | |
− | Sure! Good idea btw. Just one question, would it be possible to also follow the 145x215 specs for the Conan side images? Like maybe resize and increase the height a bit (it's ok if there's more "bricks" at the top and bottom ^^). It's just so that they flow nicely with the layout (or it might break it a bit). I'll try to work on the template sometime today if I can. --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 05:57, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
| |
− | :I see. What about having some of the "Meitantei" in the picture and keeping the Conan image at the top. If they all look the same (with the meitantei in the picture), it would give the same feel when viewing each of the Volume's infobox and make it "standard" somehow. Another option could be to do some image editing and create some kind of a "graphical" template where we could just put the Conan image in the middle. I could do some experimentation there if necessary. Just out of curiosity, would you mind telling me your source for the pictures? (or are they all google images?) :o --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 06:17, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
| |
− | ::Wow, that's pretty impressive lol! I really admire your dedication. :) Sounds great, I'll do some testing later with the conan side images and see if there's anything I can come up with. Once I do, I'll make the changes to the template accordingly. ^_^
| |
− | ::Just wondering, can I add you to msn if you have it? It'd be cool to chat sometimes and easier if we're working on something for example. :) --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 00:29, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

− | == Magic Kaito Volumes ==
| |
− | | |
− | Sorry for the delay. I was not home today. First of all, good job with the new templates. And no worries, leave it to me. I'll work on it. ^^ --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 00:31, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
− | :It has something to do with the "root" article which is Magic Kaito here. The template checks the current page's name to determine what to show (summarized list or extended one). It looks like some of the templates still check for the root "Manga" instead of "Magic Kaito". That would explain it. I'll have a look. No worries, we'll get it working for sure. ;) Oh another thing. Would it be possible to redo the back cover images so that they're 275x270px instead. This way it'll match the width of the volume's image in the infobox and will have the best quality this way (since it would be its native size). As for the Volume list, we can tell the template to resize it to 240px on the fly. Right now it's stretching the image to fit in the InfoBox (as can be seen here: [[Magic Kaito Volume 1]]), which doesn't look too bad. But with a native width of 275px, it'd probably look even nicer. ^^ What do you think? --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 01:04, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
| |
− | ::Cool! Thanks. And I was asking because there's a way to show side chapters (instead of "Chapter ?"). Just use special=1 to hide the "Chapter" prefix. Just have a look at the change I made here for a concrete example: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/index.php?title=Magic_Kaito_Volume_1-4&curid=1829&diff=6982&oldid=6968 --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 01:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

| |
− | | |
− | What you're asking for is actually already implemented. :) If you look at [[Template:Char]] you will see that the second parameter is the "Image name". All I had to do on [[Drama Episode 1#Cast]] was add the actor's name such as: <nowiki>{{Char|Shinichi Kudo|Junpei Mizobata}}</nowiki>. But remember that on the profile pages of the actors, like for [[Junpei Mizobata]], the picture in the infobox should end with "Profile" such as: "Junpei Mizobata Profile.jpg". And "Junpei Mizobata.jpg" should be a 100x100 pixel image of the actor (preferably while on the show). --[[User:Maurice|Maurice]] 14:06, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

| |
− | | |
− | That's a good idea indeed. I see that they just started though but the wiki does show some promise. I also noticed that they used our pictures in the characters section and some other places.. I think it would be nice to affiliate them. But it might be wise to wait a bit to gauge their levels of commitments and see how serious they are before getting involved. Maybe let it mature a bit more? But, like I said, I'm definitely open to the idea. It might just be a little too soon at this point imo. On every file page, right below the "''File history''" section header, you should see a table. In the first column of this table, look for the "''revert''" text link. Depending on how many versions of a file have been uploaded, the table might have more than one row. When you find the row that corresponds with the image you want to change back to, click on the "''revert''" link. − | == RE: Ref Links (Manga, MK Chapters, etc.) ==
| |
− | | |
− | The cool thing is that the Ref anime template (on which the Ref manga one is based off) already included a little trick for differentiating links from labels. :) Simply use the "l1=", "l2=", etc... parameters to determine a different label for each link. I made the changes [[Roller_Coaster_Murder_Case#Case_1:_Crime_at_the_Private_Mansion|there]] already. Just a question though. As you know there's already a "Manga source" line in the InfoBox of each anime episode. Doesn't that seem a bit redundant to add it to a Case section on the episode's page as well? I know we did it for manga files but that's because an anime episode is usually a collection of multiple manga files. However, we can't say the same for the other way around: no manga file is a collection of anime episodes. So, I'm just wondering about the use or necessity to have the ref to manga files. I guess the question is: does it add value in the end? I'm not against it though. Just wondering about why/where it could be useful. --[[User:Maurice|<span style="color:#2B4396">Maurice</span>]] <em>[[User talk:Maurice|<span style="color:#F05E24">talk</span>]]</em> 03:48, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

− | | |
− | Is there a method to the DC covers' organization in the Volumes pages? I ask because I'd like to move the Taiwan cover to the end of the list -- the width of the cover puts the caption on two lines, and that messes with the formatting of the subsequent row(s) of covers, adding a lot of white space unless the browser window is wide enough for five covers per row. --[[User:Ocianne|Ocianne]] 07:49, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

− | | |
− | I am wondering why you are using the smaller size for [http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/File:Mkspecial6.jpg this picture] here. I would have thought the larger size would be preferable, as we haven't standardized episode picture sizes and it gives those hard of seeing or with vision impairments an easier time to have the option of making the image larger, especially when you have a relatively dark picture like that. I know the other MK pictures are the smaller size, but in the case where someone has already uploaded a larger one, it's a bit easier for me at least to view the larger one.
− | Oh I see.
| |
− | | |
− | == People Section ==
| |
− | This is a bit of Copy and paste since I asked other members about this earlier without anyone knowing the answer.
| |
− | Have a question concerning the people section. Was taking a second look at the images in the people section to find the wrong image format and add missing ones when I noticed some of the reoccurring characters appearing in the people section as well as character introduction in those episodes.<br>
| |
− | Eri Kisaki[[Coffee Shop Murder Case|(Ep032)]] and Shuichi Akai[[The Mysterious Passenger|(Ep230-231)]] first appearances is prime example of this so I first assumed it was because they where suspects/involved/Witnesses in those cases. Then I came upon other incidents like James Black's first appearance[[The Man from Chicago|(Ep258)]] where he doesn't appear in the People section but only the character introduction despite being the key character involved in a kidnapping case during his first episode as well as Kogoro Mouri, whom was a murder suspect in [[Kogoro Mouri, Suspect|(Ep 199)]] but only appears in the Cast section.<br> Already checked the Manual of Style for a bit of guidance but couldn't find any answer to this. So just wanted to check with someone more experienced around here exactly what the set standard is for the people section and if a character should be in both the Introduction/Cast section and the people section when they get personally involved in a case or if those other times this has occurred is either mistakes or exceptions due that being their first appearances?<br>
| |
− | My personal first impression when I found this site was that it was reserved mainly for characters that only makes their appearance in a single/dual episode and couldn't be counted as either Main or reoccurring character.<br>

− | :That made me curious too. When I see Episode 3 that Yoko Okino in characters introduced and people section. Maybe it's like the characters introduced and she's like one of the possible suspects to the people section. If she appears more, she still be put to cast section.
| |
− | | |
− | For Kogoro Mouri, if he is one of the suspects to the murder case, he doesn't have to be in the people section, he has to be cast section. If it's new character introduced and one of the suspects to the case. They can be put to people section. That's what made understand when I first saw Episode 3. --[[User:S261157|S261157]] 19:44, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

− | == Sections and sub section ==
| |
− | Skyechan, I strongly do not agree of what you are doing in the episode articles that has the Plot section making People section and Resolution section go along with the episode part titles to be sub sections. The reason why I changed it back is because the Plot section creates the list of episode part names like Part 1 and Part 2 for example. If the people and resolution goes along with it, what you are doing is make the people and resolution section look like the names of the episode parts under the Plot section and it makes no sense at all. I'm trying to make the contents more understandable and to tell you the truth, I'm really desperate about this. Do you understand my point? But I'm telling you this, Plot section makes the list of part names of the episode but people and resolution sections doesn't have to be changed into sub sections to along with the episode part names. You know I see the differences between Plots sections and Case sections that make situations to make a list of part names, since you didn't change anything about that. This a advice for you: You have to change the people and resolution sub sections into sections to make it not go along with the episode part names in sub sections. If you do not agree, then I guess I have no choice but to make the Plot sections of every episodes into Cases making situations making part names of sub sub section. --[[User:S261157|S261157]] 12:37, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

− | == Characters introduced versus characters subsection ==
| |
− | | |
− | Hey Skye, I am reverting a few of your edits in the characters sections. To make pages where newly introduced recurring characters easier to follow, it was somewhat informally decided to duplicate the characters in the introduced section in the people/suspects sections below as well because it is easier for anyone reading who is trying to keep track of the characters that way especially when they are suspects. [http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/index.php?title=Sonoko%27s_Dangerous_Summer_Story&oldid=66073 Like this.] It helps especially when a big amount of text has built up, also, <s>even though we haven't run into a situation with a returning culprit,</s> sometimes the culprit is a recurring character (Forgot about the soccer blackmailing case), so it would be strange to leave that person out of the people suspects section because he/she was recurring.
