After giving Ayumi an anathestic for her dental removal, she transported the unconscious girl from her waiting room to her apartment room. The designs of both rooms are identical. To further keep Ayumi occupied as a witness, she manipulated the clock in her room to make Ayumi think she won't make it for an airing of a Kamen Yaiba episode. She lets her watch the episode live at her house but it is actually just a taped recording of a previous episode. The evidence that gave her trick away was the placement of the Kamen Yaiba cards in her apartment room.

Yoko Sawaki killed Nakamoto because 26 years ago he kidnapped and killed her older brother. Due to lack of evidence, the police was forced to released Nakamoto as the only witness was her who was only 6 years old at that time. She confessed to Conan that she wished there was a person like him in the police so that her brother wouldn't have died in vain. Yoko then turned herself in with Conan speculating that the reason she used Ayumi as a witness is because she wanted either Kogoro or Conan to find out the truth, which is what she wanted 26 years ago.
