Situation

Part 1

The Detective Boys are invited to the Konno residents for a barbecue as a thanks for solving a case for them earlier. When the couple argue, the children grow concerned. Later, the husband cannot find his cell phone so his wife goes with him inside to look.

The wife, Sumika, tried to scare the husband to cure his hiccups. It was at a bad time since the couple had been arguing: The husband, Takushi Konno, was angry at his wife's over the top excentric behavior and the wife believed he was cheating on her. The husband planned to kill her by faking hiccups, her using a knife to scare him, and him using the knife to kill her in "self-defense". But after doing it and her surviving, he was filled with regret and tries to commit suicide.

Conan explains that her recent behavior is because she is pregnant and Conan will let it slide for the child's sake of having both parents. The police attribute the case as an unfortunate accident to cure hiccup and the Konno make amends. Afterwords, Haibara expresses her anger over the husband not thinking about his wife could be pregnant and for Conan not turning him in.

Manga to anime changes

• In the anime version, Tooru Amuro's background image was omitted when Masumi told Ran and Sonoko that she also wanted to meet him, not only Conan.
