Shinichi notices that Ronsuke is seemingly showing favoritism towards Ran. The reason is because that is preparation for a kidnapping attempt by Ronsuke Efune, his wife and his brother-in-law. Ronsuke's motive is to get a child for his wife to replace their daughter, who ran away from home, causing his wife to suffer from a mental disorder. Yusaku reveals to Ronsuke that a fan of his that he met a few days ago is actually Ronsuke's daughter, and she has just returned to them. The brother-in-law is arrested, and Ronsuke and his wife decide to give themselves in after that. When the class hears that Efune has quit, most of them breaks into crying, among them Ran, after Shinichi promise to not call her a crybaby anymore.
