Background
Vodka is a member of the Black Organization and is normally seen by Gin's side. He handles most of the research and information for the duo, such as setting up meetings (309-311), and relaying info to other members (54, 345).
Personality
While just a ruthless killer as his partner Gin, Vodka is more easy-going and trusting, thus more susceptible to traps Conan may set to apprehend the Organization. In the original Japanese versions, he refers to Gin as "aniki", which literally means "big brother" and is used as a quasi-affectionate term within a tight social circle as well.
Plot overview
Vodka was the first two Black Organization members to the series.
Relationships
- Vodka and Gin
Vodka is a subordinate of Gin's and they frequently work together, or are seen communicating with one another by phone. Vodka shows Gin absolute respect, using honorifics[2] while speaking with Gin rather than simply using his codename. Gin in turn values Vodka for his obedience. Gin views and treats Vodka as an "inexperienced little brother".[3]
- Vodka and Tequila
Vodka and Tequila are approximately equally ranked and both are Gin's subordinates.[4]
- Vodka and Shiho
Vodka has met Shiho and they are acquaintances.[4]
Trivia
- Vodka was actually the first Black Organization member to appear and speak. In the anime during the first episode, he rushed towards the roller coaster yelling, "Move it! Move it! We were here first!". His bulky body blocked Gin from view for a few seconds, who was walking right behind Vodka. Gin remained silent as they boarded the roller coaster and only uttered his first words after the murder took place.
- Vodka's English name, Kaspar, is the name of one of the three Magi in Christian tradition. Gin's English name, Melchior, is also one of the Magi. The third name is Balthazar.
- Vodka never seen taking off his hat or sunglasses. His eyes were shown only during episode 345.
