Heiji points out '''Tomoaki Inubushi''' as the culprit, evidenced by the demon dog recognizing him as his master, and Satomi's prayer beads. The beads indicated the fourth of the eight virtues which is found in Tomoaki's name. Satomi wanted Tomoaki to be the first to see the message and turn himself in. Also, the letter Miyuki sent saying she'd atone for her crimes was another one of Tomoaki's plans to put her up as the culprit. Tomoaki called Miyuki so they could for something near the cabin say, for Satomi's medicine that Tomoaki supposedly dropped when he was attacked by the dog. He planned to make her die along with the dog so it would hence the culprit killed herself and he drugged her and put her asleep in the cabin. To avoid her to die, Heiji and Conan, who were watching him from the cabin, moved her to a safer location. They tell Tomoaki that dogs never forget their masters and the reason Hatchi barked at him was because he smelled like his dog. As Tomoaki is taken into custody, he bursts into tears and reveals he wanted to increase his inheritance in order to maintain the Inubushi household for Satomi whom he loved more than his own mother. |
