Fujiko Mine (峰 不二子 Mine Fujiko?) is an occasional associate of Lupin III.

Character profile

Fujiko Mine is a stereotypical femme fatale, an opportunistic thief and seductress who uses her considerable beauty and charm to get her hands on the prizes she covets, usually the monetary kind. In order to do that, she will even join forces with Inspector Zenigata or other Lupin's opponents if it is conductive to her success.

She is also an overconfident, compulsive adventuress, enjoying her career for thrills as much as for money. Her relationship with Lupin, who is totally infatuated with her, is complicated by her attitude: While she does have a certain amount of feelings for him, and usually knows that she can count on his help in a pinch, she is not above double-crossing him if it gets her closer to the money. However, she is still considerate enough to not let him suffer from her betrayals. Thanks to her charm, she has a lot of friendly contacts all around the world and can call upon even military-grade resources when necessary. She was also involved with Lupin's associates Goemon Ishikawa and Daisuke Jigen for a time, if only to further her theft plotting.

Fujiko drives a 2008 Violet Toyota Vellfire 2.4Z, with the license plate 09-41.

Fujiko Mine in Detective Conan

Fujiko is the inspiration for the Detective Conan characters Yukiko Kudo and Vermouth, personifying her good and bad side, respectively.

Fujiko has also appeared in the following crossover specials:

Lupin III vs. Detective Conan

In this 2009 TV special, Fujiko sets out to steal the crown jewels of Vespania before Lupin, but later aids him and crown princess Mira in exposing and apprehending a traitor to the royal family. Like the rest of Lupin's gang, she is well informed that Conan Edogawa is actually Shinichi Kudo, and once they are alone together, she proceeds to very closely "investigate" the physical effects the Apotoxin had on his body.

Lupin III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie

In this 2013 movie special, Fujiko holds a grudge against Alan Smithee for holding her hostage and sets out on a personal revenge campaign against him. She is only momentarily distracted when meeting Ai Haibara, from whom she wishes to coax the formula for the Apotoxin in order to remain eternally young; a notion which Haibara strictly discourages.

Appellations

Name origin

The full name comes from Mount Fuji and Mine (tobacco).

Trivia

  • Fujiko Mine is the name origin for Yukiko Fujimine. Gosho Aoyama was inspired by Fujiko even for Vermouth. Yukiko personifies Fujiko's good side, while Vermouth represents the bad one.
