Because there were no witnesses, Furuta got away claiming that she suddenly jumped in his way in the dark road and so he was spared any punishment. Sugimoto managed to replicate a lost/found luggage situation, deciding to take advantage of his colleague's habit of pilfering through the items before returning them. He created a struggle where he pushed the victim towards a tarpel (he cut the ropes holding it in place) and stabbed him repeatedly with his ballpoint pen. The marks on the victim's hand indicate this and is what is used to convict the murderer. |
