Shukichi and Yumi met first time while she was still in college, on a train where he overslept and rest his head on Yumi's shoulder, waiting for the stop. But, Yumi waited and missed her stop just to awake Shukichi for his train stop. After this, they have met eventually and have begun dating since this. But, they finally broke up because he was immature and because he gave her a letter containing a marriage registration but told Yumi to not open the letter until he won all seven, revering to shogi titles. Stressed because she mustn't open the letter until won them, Yumi decided alone to broke up with him.
