Amemiya used the fact that Otaguro thought their was a ghost so he could change his voice into Mrs. Otaguro's voice to incite Yoshimoto to kill him because it was her who accidentally killed Chiaki Otaguro by modifying her wheelchair. He then purposely placed open the cabinet so when Yoshimoto would go clean his room, she could retrieve the poison and kill Otaguro. Conan later switches the poison contained in Otaguro's tea for salt.At night, when Conan and the Detective Boys were going to leave, Conan asks the greenhouse's janitor if he could let the solar panels stay longer so Otaguro would be happy.
