When a serial killer is on the loose and taking the lives of police officers, Detective Kogoro is on the case, along with the other police men and his daughter Ran and Conan. When at a party, Detective Sato gets shot by the man who is the murderer, and gets seen by Ran. This causes her to lose her memory of everyone she knows and loves including her parents, friends, her name, and even Shinichi. Now Ran is on a run for her life, trying to regain her memory. But little by little she starts to remember who she is and who she knows, and the very first person that she starts to remember is none other than Shinichi. When trying to regain her memory she wants to remember everyone that she knew, so she asks Conan what is Shinichi like. Conan tells her that Shinichi has very strong feelings for her but it is hard for him to tell her cause he is shy about it. So in hopes that her memory will be regained, they take Ran to Tropical Land as it is the place where Ran and Shinichi celebrated her win and went on a date. They are followed by the murderer, hoping to take Ran's life. While in the process Conan is trying to help Ran escape Tropical Land so that her life maybe spared. When running through Tropical Land, Ran asks Conan why he is protecting her. He replies that he loves her more than anything else in the world. When he says this Ran regains her memory of everything and everyone that she knows, including the killer of the police men and who shot Detective Sato, when this happens she fights the criminal just in time to save Conan from getting stabbed by him. At the end they are joyful because they get the good news that Detective Sato will make a full recovery.
