Trivia
- While Furukawa's Yamamura highly respects Akira Kamiya's character Kogoro Mouri, Furukawa and Kamiya have frequently played rivals, most notably in Urusei Yatsura (Ataru and Mendou), Fist of the North Star (Shin and Kenshiro), and Dragon Ball Z (Piccolo and Garlic Jr.). Additionally, Furukawa took over the role Kinnikuman from Kamiya for the sequel series Kinnikuman Nisei and portrayed the Space Battleship Yamato character Sakamoto, who was meant to replace Kamiya's Katou. In the anime, Sakamoto only appeared the in TV special New Journey and Katou's brother (also voiced by Kamiya) took over the role and Sakamoto was never seen again until the PS2 games, in which he permenantly took Katou's place.
