The culprit is Toshinari Shiga. He had tricked Noriya's sense of time to help prove his alibi. The motive was that Hiroto was stalking Mika which caused her death. Shiga's sister had jumped into traffic in order to get away from her stalker, Hiroto, and was hit by a car. If Hiroto had called for an ambulance, she might've lived.

• Although this set of episodes makes up the ninth "Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story" series, the number 9 isn't used in the titles. The Wiki is using the "9" to help distinguish the set from the original Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story.
• The video game Titan Hunter mentioned by the Detective Boys at the beginning of the first part appears to be based on the manga title Attack on Titan.
• In one of her two posters the magician character Kira Miyahara has brown hair, while in The Séance's Double Locked Room Mystery had orange hair.
• The moon at the episode ending was red, which suggests this case happened on the same night as episode 5 of Magic Kaito 1412.
