Part 1
Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are staying at a hotel where they meet the twins from the case of the cursed mask. Later, an actress comes and causes trouble. The next day, she is found hanged in her room.

In Greek Mythology, Icarus, who received wings, forgot his father's warning that he shouldn't fly too high, and flew higher and higher. He believed he could fly to the sun. But Icarus' wings couldn't bear the heat when he got too close to the sun. After his wings burned, Icarus fell from the sky right to the ground.
Part 2
After investigating in the crime scene, Conan understands that Bizen's death wasn't a suicide, but a murder. He collects pieces of evidence, gets Kogoro asleep, and solves the case.

Trivia
- Mitsuyuki Arimori's bus is a 1999 Gray Nissan Civilian.
- Hidehiko Shiromoto's off-road is a 1994 Dark Blue Honda Crossroad Series I [LJ].
- Shinobu Shimon's car is a white Toyota Crown [S140].
- The legend of Icarus is also cited for the case in Might Over Mystery.
- This case is the first mention of a younger actress named Reika, who is apparently younger than 30 years old.
- This is the first mention of any hang gliding, not counting Kaito Kid's hang glider.
- The 'creepy twins' from A Cursed Mask Coldly Laughs case makes a reappearance in this case, although they do appear less creepy, except for their transformation into the synchronized twins, and the ay that they did everything in sync with each other.
- Miyama White Butterflies only exist around this area, however I am unable to google them in order to find out if they even exist in real life, or just what type of butterfly they really are, so I an state what part of Nagano they exist in.
- This is the Greek telling of the story of Icarus:
"Dedalus who is Icarus' father constructed a maze in an island called Crete. He was asked to do so by the king to make it so the monster Minotauros could not escape. However Dedalus was deceived-the king feared that Dedalus would reveal the way into the maze to others and he was jailed in there with his son Icarus. After a long time Icarus said "The sky is beautiful I wish we could fly and be free" Dedalus heard his son wish and then made wings out of feather and wax. After they both started flying above the sea Dedalus warned Icarus not to go close to the sun because wax would melt. Icarus though blinded by his freedom didn't listen to him and he drowned into the sea. For that reason we have a place called Icarian Sea."
This anime version is probably more subjective to the character than the Greek Legend.
- In Hotel Arimori, the painting with mountains is from a Tottori hotel in Tottori Spider Mansion Demon, and reappears in Beika Central Hospital from Captured in Her Eyes and in Tachibana villa from The Bay of Revenge; the one with a hut on the lake is from Izu Hospital in Scuba Diving Murder Case, the one with Kushiro marshland sunset is from The Crane's Return of a Favor Murder Case; and the two with flowers are from the mountains in this episode.
