Kaitou Kid is really the alter ego of High School student Kuroba Kaito. He is the greatest Jewel Theif in Japan and is known for never being caught. Kaito's father was the original Kaitou Kid until his death at the hands of an unknown man named Snake. Ten years later, Kaito discovers his father's secret lair and dons the clothes of the Phantom Theif. As he masquerades as Kaitou Kid, he meets his father's old friend, Jii, who reveals to him the secret of his father's mission and the truth behind his father's death.
