Seiji Muta (牟田 清司 Muta Seiji ) is a Japanese anime director and character designer. Along with Masatomo Sudo, he works as character designer for Detective Conan from episode 627 to 680.
Works in Detective Conan
Muta was from Studio Z5 (スタジオZ5). He debuted in the anime series Space Carrier Blue Noah (宇宙空母ブルーノア) in 1979. He then finally got involved in the production of Detective Conan anime in 1996, starting with the 1st episode Roller Coaster Murder Case, which he served as a key animator. After that, he constantly worked as a key animator under the episodes in which the animation was directed by Masatomo Sudo, Hirobi Muranak, and Atsushi Aono.
From the 1st part of Momotarou Mystery Solving Tour onwards, which was after 2004, Muta began to work as animation director and chief animation director trivially. And in 2009, he completely quit doing key animation for Detective Conan episodes. During the 2001 - 2013 peirod, Muta worked with Sudo, and both of them served as the character designer and animation director for openings and endings.
In 2012, Koujin Ochi promoted Muta to assistant animation director. Incidentally, due to the lack of staff at that time, the animation and drawings of the anime were not so stable, therefore, this role emerged, which mainly corrects these unstable drawings. In 2023, after finishing the assistant animation director work for the 1st part of The Black Organization's Scheme, he terminated his participation as assistant animation director for the latest episodes.
