But during dinner, when they hear Kogoro is a detective, the Master gets angry and wants him out of the Temple by tomorrow. Sadly the next day, the headmaster is murdered and they are four suspects: Kannen, Mokunen, Tonnen and Shunen. The same thing happened 2 years ago; a student was murdered. Agasa invents the Button Speaker.

While taking a walk together, Conan, Kogoro, and Ran heard a woman's scream from a nearby building. Her husband has been killed by a blow to the back of the head. Will Conan be able to see around the killer's trick?

Kogoro is invited to a party for the release of a game which stores himself. While there, Conan runs into a man who uses the alias Tequila and learns that he plans to meet with Gin and Vodka. Conan follows Tequila to the bathroom where an explosion occurs and kills the man. Conan investigates the explosion and realizes that it was a murder attempt but the wrong person was killed. Conan knocks Kogoro out and uses his voice changing bow tie to reveal what had happened. Conan reveals that Tequila and Nakajima, one of the game designers, secretly exchanged suitcases. Conan reveals that the bomber is game designer Takeshita and that Nakajima was his intended target. As evidence, Conan reveals that Nakajima's suitcase's key would fit into the suitcase Takeshita is holding since that is originally Nakajima's suitcase. Takeshita confesses and denounces Nakajima for having an affair with his wife. Conan asks Nakajima what he knows about Tequila's acquaintances only to learn that he always meets them in the café in the Apollo building. Conan heads there only to find out Gin and Vodka had cause an explosion to hide evidence of them being there. Tequila's first appearance. Tequila wants the list of genius programmers around the world, but is killed by a bomb.

As Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are on their way home from a hot spring, they boarded a train together with a pair of doctors. They arrived at a station where one may change trains to another line, but no one could possibly change trains since the two lines are scheduled differently by a mere five-minute difference. At the station where the trio are to change trains to one going to Tokyo, a murder is discovered. The only suspect rides in the train with Conan's group while the victim rides on a train from a different line. Conan uncovers the trick used by the murderer using the change given by a lady working on the train of the victim.

Conan, Kogoro, and Ran are out jogging when they are attracted to a scene of a murder. One of the owners of the Sunfish Cleaning Company has been killed by a falling beam. Conan uncovers the trick by using window reflections.

Conan, Kogoro and Ran goes to a meeting where fans of Sherlock Holmes are there. There, they meet Heiji, who was hoping that Shinichi would be there. Things go bad when the host is put to sleep and put in a car which drives off a cliff, killing him. A member found out who did it, but she got killed when she was in another car that burst into flames. Heiji then got very suspicious of Conan's true identity as Shinichi, but when he tries to confront Conan, a blackout occurs and another member is injured by the killer, with a knife to the back. Who did this?

Conan and Heiji was able to solve the case, and fearing of his identity, Conan use Heiji instead of Kogoro to solve the case. The killer turned out to be the boyfriend of the second victim, and she was able to find out he did it because she decided to cheat off his Holmes test, but when she saw his test, it was blank, because he knew it would never be graded and he was busy preparing for the killing of the host. The killer did it because the third victim was the publisher of a Holmes book he didn't like, so he did this for Holmes. And after Heiji woke up, he reveals that he was spying on Conan the whole time during the deduction, so he now knows the truth about Conan, and he spills the beans. Heiji figures out that Conan is Shinichi.

It's the first errand festival, were children are sent shopping on their own for the first time. The detective boys have been assigned to follow Hiroshi-kun, to record how well he did, and to make sure that no harm comes to him. However, Conan soon realises that the detective boys aren't the only ones following Hiroshi. Who is it? and why are they after his life?

Kogoro is invited to a barbecue by his senior. Suddenly a call is made, and the host has to leave due to a man from a gang stating that he killed someone and wants to be arrested. Kogoro's senior told the police that he had accidentally killed his client, but it turns out that he planned his death.

A relaxing night out turns into the search for a kidnapped little boy, as Conan, Kogoro, and Ran, come to the aide of a desperate father in his hour of need. As they search to find the truth, nothing is certain, except the kidnapper's deadly ultimatum: No police, no mercy, no time!

Kogoro is given a case to solve the sender of a threat note. His teacher appears at his house and decides to go to the theater, too. Conan and Ran tag along. Kogoro's case turns into a murder, but he soon breaks his backbone before Conan can solve it. Using things that Kogoro's teacher says, Conan finds out the murderer and reveals them using the body of Kogoro's teacher.

Professor Agasa offers Conan, Ran, and Kogoro a free vacation which they gladly accept, but when the Night Baron arrives the vacation is quickly changed into a case as murder occurs. Yuusaku Kudo's Night Baron character is explored.

Another person assumes the role of Night Baron as Kogoro investigates the murder of Tokio Ebara. When he is found dead in the Night Baron costume, everybody believes it was an accident, but Conan thinks otherwise. Later Ran, Conan, and a member of the tour are attacked coming out of the elevator by the Night Baron. Ran fights him off but doesn't land a hit, which makes her believe she knows who is in the Night Baron costume. Can Conan solve this case even if the wind is a factor?

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are out for a walk when they notice a man who drank a juice dies from poison. They later learn he was a stalking a young woman. After investigating, Conan find evidence to prove she was the murderer. The woman reveals she feared for her safety as the stalker pushed her down a staircase after she called the police. Conan then also reveals that the stalker planned to kill her on that day evidenced by his bag. He tells her with this, she should get a light sentence.
72	74	The Triplet's Country Home Murder Case	August 18, 1997			V13 - F2~4 (122-124)	Home Run
A murder occurs and the suspects are triplets. First appearance of Yuzo Tomizawa.
73	75	The Detective Boys' Disaster Case	August 25, 1997			TV Original	The movement of the tides
The Detective Boys, along with Ran and Kogoro, are at a beach one day when they come across two rich people; a snobby young man named Kogatsu, and a young woman named Shinobu. Genta finds an SOS in a bottle by Shinobu on a beach. They find her in a cave; reaching it by a raft. She explains Kogatsu tried to kill her by drugging her to sleep and letting the tides rise. The tides have risen to a point where they can not leave the cave. They venture into the maze of a cave and escape to a pool where they encounter Kogatsu and Kogoro. Kogatsu then holds Ayumi at gunpoint and threatens to kill everyone, but Ran and an old guard arrive in time to save them. In the end, Kogatsu is taken to jail as Shinobu looks sadly at the man who betrayed her love while Kogoro is sternly lectured by the old guard for fishing in the pool, which is off-limits.
74	76	The Death God Jinnai Murder Case	September 1, 1997			TV Original	Elevator
Ran, Conan, and Kogoro are at a movie premier of Jinnai King of Death VIII. After the show they see Hayato Nanjo greeting fans, he plays Jinnai in the movie. Then Kogoro is spotted by Hayato's wife who shows him a death threat that says Hayato will die at midnight just like in the movie. His wife is worried but Hayato brushes it off. Reporters and Kogoro have a stake out when Jinnai appears and makes for Hayato's room. They arrive by elevator and when Kogoro comes out he trips on vinyl tape. They hear a scream and Hayato's dead with a bullet to the head.
75	77	Loan Company President's Murder Case	September 8, 1997			V15 - F7~9 (147-149)	Toilet
Kogoro is playing Mahjong when they called a Loan Company President to play with them. When they find him in his office, he has died from cyanide poisoning. The suspects are three of his employees. The poison was only found on the victim's thumb, money, and door handle, but no where else in the office. Conan solves the mystery, showing how cyanide was erased with Bleach. The culprit explains how it was for revenge for putting the person's loved one in such a great debt.

Conan is not actually Aoyama's first character. There's another one who happened to face Kudo once... What happens when the infamous magician of the moonlight squares off against our child detective? First appearance of Kaitou Kid, Kaito Kuroba, Aoko Nakamori, Ginzo Nakamori, and Shintaro Chaki. First time Conan and Kid face off. Heist: The Black Star.

Kogoro is recommended by someone to a wealthy family for a routine assignment; the man wishes to find his first love. With the police roaming around the house, though, Conan begins to wonder if that's really all there is to it. His answer comes when suddenly, the son of the wealthy man supposedly kills his child hood friend. Later they celebrate the chairman's birthday, then Nobuko became very angry at Miyuki and go out in the room. Later they receive calk from Mitsuaki, that he was attacked by a man wrapped with bandages. Later, they saw Hideomi biting a knife, and found Mitsuaki stabbed and found at the spike fence.
78	81	Distinguished Family's Consecutive Accidental Death Case (Part 2)	October 27, 1997			V16 - F2 ~ F3 (152-153)	Fountain pen
Conan and Heiji decide to pursue the clues of the childhood friend. The clues allow them to solve the murder, but they also allow Ran to come closer to the truth about Shinichi. Can Heiji help Shinichi keep his secret?   The reason Conan couldn't let Miyuki Hyoga commit suicide is because of what happened during the Moonlight Sonata Murder Case.

After bowling, Ran, Sonoko, and Conan head to the bank to check in a cheque. While there, an armed bank robbing happens. After some struggle, one man is shot by the robber but survives. After being shot, another man struggles with the robber and ends up shooting and killing the robber. It all seems normal but Conan finds it strange. After figuring out the robber had an accomplice, Conan, using Sonoko, reveals the robber's accomplice. He reveals the two planned to use the money to pay off their debts and make some cash.
80	83	The Wandering Artist Murder Case	November 10, 1997			TV Original	House cleaning
While at a painting exhibit, Conan notices a man in rag examining a picture. The next day while playing baseball with his friends, he notices the man again. After being asked about his drawings of a home, the man realizes he has been drawing unconsciously, and holds his head in pain. In the hospital, he was revealed to have been affected by amnesia and the pain was his returning memories. The man leaves the hospital. The next day while playing baseball, Genta finds the man dead. Conan finds out the man is an artist who's been missing for a year. His wife is the only one who can identify the body but she proclaims it's not him. Conan proves that the man was the artist by fingerprints he left behind when he came home after regaining his memories. Conan shows them who the murderer was.
81	84	The Kidnapping of a Popular Artist Case (Part 1)	November 17, 1997			V15 - F4~6 (144-146)	Two-Mix
A famous singer from the band Two-Mix is kidnapped and they demand the Detective Boys to deliver the bag belonging to the singer. The police tail the Detective Boys and when captured, find out Ayumi is disguised as Conan and that the kidnappers demanded Ayumi to deliver the item. Two-Mix's first appearance. Agasa invents the Earring Cellphone.
82	85	The Kidnapping of a Popular Artist Case (Part 2)	November 24, 1997			V15 - F4~6 (144-146)	New Year's Eve midnight bell
Conan meets up with the kidnappers and just when he was about to defeat them, the Detective Boys arrive and are captured. The kidnappers leave and then set the room on fire. While at the concert, the Detective Boys accidentally start the music too early, and if stopped it will anger the crowd even more. Conan tries to sing but that angers the crowd. The singer then takes the Detective Boys out with her to sing.
83	86	General Hospital Murder Case	December 1, 1997			TV Original	Coffee
Kogoro Mouri is in the hospital after injuring his ankle. While there, he witnesses a shadow of a murder. After causing an uproar three times and finding the place where the murder took place was an empty room, the murder occurs on the fourth time. Conan figures out that light is being reflected to that room and that the the first three times were in a different room while the fourth one occurred in the room Mouri presumed. The culprit has an alibi of talking to the nurse in another room at the time of the murder. Mouri is desperate to go into the Sleeping Kogoro phase to prove his innocence and happily exclaims it's coming when Conan secretly shoots a tranquilizer dart. Conan disproves the culprits alibi and proves Mouri to be innocent.
84	87	Ski Lodge Murder Case (Part 1)	December 8, 1997			V14 - F9 ~ V15 - F3 (139-143)	Heater
Ran, Sonoko, and Conan run into their old third grade teacher, Akiko Yonehara, who invites them to spend the night at a Mountain Villa. A mysterious journalist arrives and tells them a massacre similar to three years before will happen that night. Can Conan help find the clues before too much damage occurs?
85	88	Ski Lodge Murder Case (Part 2)	December 15, 1997			V14 - F9 ~ V15 - F3 (139-143)	Hair
Ran solves the murder with Conan's suggestions, but the true identity of the culprit was so shocking to her that she reveals it in tears and breaks down crying on Conan shortly afterwards. Conan calls Ran with Shinichi's voice and helps her solve the case.
