Shinichi notices that Ronsuke is seemingly showing favoritism towards Ran. The reason is because that is preparation for a kidnapping attempt by Ronsuke Efune, his wife and his brother-in-law. Ronsuke's motive is to get a child for his wife to replace their daughter, who ran away from home, causing his wife to suffer from a mental disorder. Yusaku reveals to Ronsuke that a fan of his that he met a few days ago is actually Ronsuke's daughter, and she has just returned to them. The brother-in-law is arrested, and Ronsuke and his wife decide to give themselves in after that.
