The culprit is Eiko Ikeguchi. First, she stole Hayashida's weather balloon to get into the crime scene. She used 5 of 6 balloons. After the crime, she climbed up the mountain, she was hurrying and ended having her palm wounded. And there are marks of the balloon, also she smells of kerosene. Her motive is that Motoki was finding Takemi in the mountains, without knowing that she was taking pictures below the mountain. Until Motoki falls over the cliff and died. Also, Eiko wants to frame Hayashida, because he was jealous about the two of them and he knew that Motoki and Eiko were secretly dating.

Weather Balloons

• Taro Hayashida uses research balloons, balloons that are used for scientific purposes. Usually unmanned, theses balloons are filled with gases lighter than air so they can go high in the sky. Most of them are used in meteorology, atmospheric research, astronomy, and military research and only a few balloons like these are launched per year by particulars.
