Background
Moroha Kurogane is Yaiba's younger and extremely wealthy sister, who was raised by her mother Michiko Kurogane to look at her father Kenjuro Kurogane as an imposter who killed her "true father" and whose place this "imposter" has taken.[1] She sometimes also seems a bit quick-tempered and a skilled kendo fighter like her brother.
Plot overview
Yaiba
Nobunaga Oda Tournament Arc (Yaiba Manga: 237-254)
During her debut, she appears to be a mysterious girl who shows great interest in Yaiba and invites him to her large mansion. Sayaka Mine and Musashi Miyamoto unsolicitedly follow her, as the former mistakenly thinks Moroha is Yaiba's crush, which makes her jealous, although Musashi notes that there is a similarity between the two. It then quickly turns out that she actually is his sister and the mansion the home of the Kurogane family.
She is also present at the "Nobunaga Oda Tournament", which is organized by multi-billionaire Gakuso Shirogane and where Yaiba encounters Soshi Okita. However, Moroha only acts as a spectator and the misunderstanding with her father clears up during the finale.
Epilogue (Yaiba Manga: 255)
In the epilogue, which takes place three years after the events of the rest of the manga, Moroha covers her father while he is stealing food from the Kurogane mansion, while his wife Michiko orders her servants to look for him. Moroha just smilingly gazes after him while he escapes.
Detective Conan
Crimson School Trip (Manga: 1000-1005, Anime: 927-928)
At the end of the school trip to Kyoto, Ran Mouri clears up the misunderstanding about Soshi Okita: her father had found his lost talisman and thought that it belonged to Ran. To his own surprise, however, he found a photo of Moroha Kurogane in it. Okita then revealed he's indeed in love with Moroha, but has to defeat his "greatest rival" in a kendo duel before he can confess to her. He also asked of Ran not to tell Momiji Ooka anything about this.
Trivia
- Similar to Soshi Okita, Moroha did not appear in the Anime Kenyuu Densetsu YAIBA because the last story arc from the manga was never animated. This makes the photo and her mention in The Scarlet School Trip her very first "animated" appearance.
- The idea that Okita and Moroha could be a couple has been popular one among Japanese fans since the end of the Yaiba manga. Gosho Aoyama canonized this relationship in Detective Conan, showing that Okita is indeed in love with Moroha. In Yaiba, however, there was no romantic development between the two.
