Resolution
In the end, Heiji and Conan solve the case. The murderer turns out to be Atsushi Hasami. The proof is the calendar which is torn by the suspect because of the blood. The suspect used Hajime Iwatomi shoes because the president can only see the shoes, allowing the suspect to use the video camera to see what the president is doing.
Motive
Hasami murdered president Tsuchiya because he and Iwatomi tried to push selling unsafe toys which may harm the children that bought it, claiming that the company doesn't have enough income for the safety procedure, despite the fact that the president himself had embezzled huge amount of the profit and hidden them inside the safe under everyone's nose.
Trivia
- The book Conan bought is named, 'Detective Samonji Series, File 44: "The Last Will and Testament Prepared by the Devil,"' and it is also considered the Final Chapter.
- The bookstore owner considers Conan to be a regular, and knew he loved this series, so he saved him a copy of this newly released book.
- Although we know that Conan is an avid reader, apparently he can usually read a book that thick in one day. He stated, that he "will finish dinner than finish that book before going to bed," which he just purchased. In fact, when he said that, he was still walking to the Detective Agency Building Front Door, with said thick book in hand.
- Although this case aired in December, and the Manga Volume of this case was released in October, apparently the month that was just torn off, and has some blood on it is June. So it would make more sense that the case came out in July rather than near the end of the year, however the manga came out in the tenth month, and the anime case in the 12th month, and it was the 6th month that was torn off, and had blood on part of it. In fact, Heiji will state that "The president was killed on June 29th, yet the Calendar for this room was July." It had already been stated that only the president tore off the months. However this trivia is that the bloody month was June, yet the case aired in December, or released in October.
- This is one of the first cases that the culprit made the victim believe that he was someone else, so the victim will give an incorrect dying message, and point it as someone else. If not the only case like that. In short, the culprit gave the victim the illusion that he was another person, and allowed the dying message, before killing the victim.
- This is the case that Heiji had a deduction competition with Kazuha, and even planned on letting her win, however his competititve nature would not be doused unfortunately.
- This is the case that Kazuha did solve a dying message.
