Kogoro is targeted by a killer who is after Kimura. Kogoro accidentally took his jacket at a bar and now the killer is trying to kill him.

Conan finds out that Kimura is not who he seems to be. Kimura is said to be at a lake and Kogoro goes to investigate. There he is seemingly shot by the culprit but, in fact, Conan has set a dummy in Kogoro's place.

Conan stuns Kogoro and reveals that the culprit was Inoue all along. Inoue is actually Hiroshi Ukita from the robbery case that Kogoro solved before. Ukita had a plastic surgery in order to look like someone else. He reveals that his motive was to get revenge on Kogoro, who arrested him because he had stolen money so his fiancé could get married. But once Kogoro had caught him, his life had been ruined and he could never see his fiancé again. Inspector Megure gets mad at him, and says that stealing is an unforgivable crime, and wouldn't make his fiancé happy. Ukita gets arrested once again.

A remastered version of this case was aired on February 14, 2015.

• The scooter is an Honda Super Cub.
• The stolen truck is a 2001 Hino Ranger and has a license plate of 32-14.
• Two other clients at Bar Lemon who are only known by name are named Tanaka (田中) and Yoshida (吉田).
• Inoue's car is a 1997 Blue Velvet Pearl Toyota Caldina GT−T Active Sports [T210G], the license plate of 53-29.
• This is the first case of Detective Conan's tenth year.
• Conan has a yellow/Orangish cup with a teddy bear on it.
• Takagi and Megure's car has a license plate of 7-25.
• This is the first time that the culprit tried to murder Kogoro, multiple times, normally it is just once, if at all. Just like Ran was targeted in Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case and Sonoko in Sonoko's Dangerous Summer Story. In each of these cases, it was three different times.
• This is the first case that showed Conan tranquilizing Kogoro, on-screen, since he appeared to develop a resistance to the dart in A Small Client, however in this case, he falls asleep almost instantly again, so it is possible the dosage may have been upped, although there is no mention of that.
