Case
Conan, Ran, and Kogoro come to the villa after receiving a request. The case was quickly resolved and as he was returning home, he saw a Gunma Prefectural Police vehicle parked in front of a large villa. Inspector Yamamura, who was at the scene, said that the victim, who was drinking coffee on the balcony, was hit by a falling chimney and died. The victim was Kohei Inoue, the chairman of a famous yangnyeom chicken specialty store. While they are talking, Conan discovers some work that someone has done at the base of the chimney.[1]

Trivia
- The "Rube Goldberg machine" referred to in the title originates from the American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg's works. This term manifests mechanical combinations that are designed to be overly complex and complete simple actions in a circuitous manner.
- Just like other episodes written by Yamatoya, the characters' names come from certain horse racing-related terms:
- Norihiro Shimada (島田 典弘) comes from Japanese jockey Norihiro Yokoyama (横山 典弘 Yokoyama Norihiro );
- Fuma Tanaka (田中 風馬) comes from Japanese jockey Fuma Matsuwaka (松若 風馬 Matsuwaka Fūma );
- Arata Kawamoto (河本 新) comes from Japanese jockey Arata Saito (斎藤 新 Saitō Arata );
- Nanako Inoue (井上奈々子) comes from Japanese jockey Nanako Fujita (藤田 菜七子 Fujita Nanako ).
