Situation

Conan and the group meet spider researchers. One of them gets a call, and they rush to the facility on to find their Professor fallen deadly to a poisonous spider. Conan discovers that the spider was already dead before the Professor came into contact with it, and there's a needle on the ear piece, pointing to murder.

It was later revealed that Miwa Yasuda killed the professor. She did that for her boyfriend, Hitokawa. She didn't intentionally killed the professor instead, she just wanted him to be sent to the hospital for awhile so that Hitokawa could present his research on the academic conferences that the professor took credit for.
