Changing names of Kid
I want to move "Kaitou Kid" into "Kaito Kid"? Reason: The title is Magic Kaito so it's supposed to be "Kaito". --S261157 18:21, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- To be fair, the Kaito being referred to by the title of the manga is the Kaito (快斗) of "Kaito Kuroba" which had no "ou" at the end unlike the the completely-differently-spelled "Kaitou Kid's" kaitou (怪盗) which does end in "ou". However, the people waging war on romanizing "ou's" as "o's" seems to be winning, so why not? Chekhov MacGuffin talk 19:54, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah yeah that makes sense. But what about in Case Closed book? In Case Closed Volume 16, it says "Kaito Kid". There's no "u" at the end of "Kaito". This wiki is english and Kaito is Kaito. I think it will be better to change Kaitou into Kaito which is Kaito Kid. --S261157 14:40, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- That would cause lots of unnecessary confusion. It's always been in the English fandom that you refer to Kaito Kuroba as Kaito whereas if you want to refer to Kaitou Kid you say "Kaitou" or "Kid" because we don't have a convenient way to distinguish the two like the Japanese language does (快斗 (Kaito) as opposed to 怪盗 (Kaitou (phantom thief)). In my opinion the Case Closed manga name changes are not to be followed; we use the Japanese names on this Wiki anyway. As for Chekhov's explanation, there is a way to distinguish the "o" versus "ou" problem by spelling the names this way: Kaito and Kaitō (the latter containing the "ou"). The problem with this is that the general English reading population of Magic Kaito and Detective Conan don't tend to use this because to be frank, we're lazy. Why look up a keystroke when you can simply write "ou" instead? --Skyechan 16:31, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Darn, this sucks! This is confusing, indeed. Grrrr. Don't know why there's a difference between them. Hey Maurice-sama, what's your opinion? --S261157 18:54, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've made some research on the topic and I've also noticed the same thing as Skyechan. When we're referring to Kaito Kuroba, it's "Kaito", but otherwise you'll find that it's more commonly referred to as "Kaitou Kid" when talking about the "Phantom Thief" (which is the accurate translation of Kaitō/Kaitou if I understand correctly). Like Skyechan mentionned, since we've always been using "ou" instead or "ō" in this wiki (due to the way it is interpreted by the "general English population"), I also think it's correct to leave it as it is to prevent confusion and promote reader-friendliness. --Maurice 14:39, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I saw the use of "Kaito Kid" in the manga.
Hence, I will add it in.
An Update on the profile of Kaitou Kid
on the 9th episode of Kaitou Kid series, Hakuba was showing the data to Nakamori about Kid. Well, there are lots of new info about the latter (height, weight ...etc) that we can add to his profile and we can reference to the info in the References section though I have never done anything related to the references but I can learn that. I already have the page that teaches me how to do so in [[1]] However, guys, I need your help or to be precise, can I add this kind of information to the profile of Kaitou Kid in Kaitou Kid page ? Thanks in advance
- This type of information can go in the profile section and the appearances section, but it would go on the Kaito Kuroba page because not all the Kids weigh the same, etc. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 15:08, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
Well, I went to Kaito Kuroba's page and found out that under Personality and Skills section: "According to Hakuba's analysis during his search for Kaitou Kid's identity, Kaito is 174 cm (5'8.5") tall, weighs 58 kg (128 lbs), has an IQ of 400, and is blood type 'B'.[2]" Well, shouldn't those info be also mentioned in the profile section of Kaito Kuroba ? (Kaito, according to references #2, weighs 58 kg (128 lbs). However, in the 9th anime episode of Magic Kaito, Kaito weighs 50 kg (110 lbs). Well, I know that for a guy, he should weighs 58 kg. So what do you think ?. And if we want to add the info to the profile, should we reference ? If yes, would that reference be different from the reference #2 ? Another thing, in same the anime episode, his eyesight is: L 2.0, R 2.0. Can we also add this to the profile ? One last thing, while Hacuba is talking with Nakamori in the laboratory, one of the lab's staff came & said that Kaito's age is between 15 and 17. Can we make this as a reference to his age ? Sorry for the long questions, and thank you so much for everything.
- What do you mean by profile section? Which page? The lab guy's guess for Kaito's age can be referenced. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 16:34, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
Sorry for the confusion :). I didn't clear what I want. What I meant is this page [[2]] and under his photo on the right there's "Profile" including Japanese name, age ...etc.
Plot Overview
Should we add the cases that didn't include a heist in the episode in the plot overview? Like maybe the Magic lover murder case and the jet black mystery train case?
