Pictures in gallery section
FYI, to avoid having extremely large pages that take forever to load on phones and such, we try to restrict galleries to small sizes so they don't become dumping grounds for every image tangentially related to <topic>. As a wiki we aren't trying to be an image collection service, we want just enough to illustrate the topic at hand. If you could move some of the images you have to the associated episode/opening sections to demonstrate their relevance those particular sections of text, that would be helpful. - Do what you think is right; if it's a problem I'll let you know. I was just concerned seeing a whole bunch of new images being uploaded for something that wasn't an episode gallery. They all seem pretty relevant. Mostly I am worried because pages like Ran/Shinichi are some of the biggest pages kb-wise on the website. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 01:22, 25 April 2016 (CEST)
Galleries
Can you not delete the Gallery page on Desperate Revival? It is standard on episode pages to include a five image gallery in the gallery section and then link to the main gallery. Second I deleted several of your pictures that were nearly identical. Please don't make image series of fansubs. The wiki is not tumblr or another reblogging service. If you believe a quote is important, please just include a transcript of the translations under a single image. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 17:49, 29 April 2016 (CEST)
Excessive images in episode galleries
In order to avoid copyright problems, we limit the size of galleries for episode pages. 50 images for 1 episode Once-A-Month Present Threat Case is well in excess of our 15 preferred, 25-max guideline. I will have to delete several of the images. Please be more selective and frugal with your image selection in the future. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 21:11, 1 August 2016 (CEST)
- I explained above how many images are allowed. 15 is preferred, 25 is the max per each 30 minute episode block (so 1 hour specials can have double that, etc.) The reason for this rule is that Unites States Copyright law (which this website is subject to) allows non-owners of the copyright (like this wiki which is a fansite) to use part of a work under fair use guidelines. Use too much though, and it will be considered a substitute for the work in question, and thus illegal, which means the whole site could be sued and shut down.
- That is why it is incredibly important NOT to retell the story with pictures, which is substituting for the original work, but instead to show key moments and the best art in an episode. See these galleries I did which primarily highlighted memorable moments and good art: The Treasure Chest Filled with Fruits/Gallery, Fugitive: Kogoro Mouri/Gallery, The Jet-Black Mystery Train/Gallery, and Conan in a Locked Room/Gallery. - You can go ahead and decide what to keep and what to toss. I won't act until you have decided. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 21:32, 1 August 2016 (CEST)
- No need to apologize, I know you never meant any harm. You weren't aware there were rules about this. That happens a whole lot, which is why I am a mod. Thanks for uploading pictures, and please be careful to abide by the manual of style for future uploads. :) Chekhov MacGuffin talk 21:53, 1 August 2016 (CEST)
