The Great Detective Turned Small (仲間はずれの名探偵 Chiisakunatta Meitantei?) is the third chapter of the manga of Detective Conan. It was written by Gosho Aoyama and and drawn by him and his assistants and first released in Shōnen Sunday #7/1994 on January 19th, 1994 and later on reprinted as part of Volume 1 on June 18th, 1994.

Plot

Kogoro and Ran Mouri arrived at the Tani residence in Yayoi with Conan Edogawa in tow, where it becomes clear that Mr. Tani's daughter, Akiko Tani, got kidnapped. Conan is quick to find several inconsistencies in what Mr. Asou, the Tani family's butler, told about what happened when Akiko got taken away. Asou admits that it was all a ruse when, suddenly, a seemingly real kidnapper calls Mr. Tani and demands his ransom money...
